I came into this community because I wanted surgery on another area... and I’m leaving a review.
I started orthodontic treatment at Cheongdam Line Dental Clinic and had the surgery at Leeds Dental Clinic. I’m still very satisfied with the surgery, so while I’m here.. I’m leaving this post.
The 2 hospitals were not connected to each other, and I chose the orthodontic clinic because it was close to my workplace and an acquaintance’s review was very good. After telling the orthognathic surgery hospital, they exchanged information about my condition, and I did nearly 1 year of pre-surgical orthodontics > surgery > post-surgical orthodontics.
Before the consultation, I had rabbit-like teeth and my upper gums were visible, and because I had an open bite, almost only my molars were touching. But since it was a major surgery, I had the desire to make a dramatic change Even when I said I wanted everything shaved down so my face would become smaller, they firmly told me no, so I’m very satisfied now. (I had the square jaw shaved slightly and kept the cheekbones. They only changed and set the angle.)
I went to many consultations in Seoul, and they designed the surgery with the feeling of shaving down both the cheekbones and jaw a lot. In my heart, I definitely wanted to look pretty, but it wasn’t a common surgery, so I also worried, what if something goes wrong and I die? I thought about it a lot.
At the time, people who had orthognathic surgery were not common, so there wasn’t much information, and I also had the prejudice that university hospitals only do function well. Thinking that if it was done excessively I could die (this hospital ended up persuading me), I was strongly drawn to this place because they recommended function + only a little bit of aesthetic elements, so I went for it.
Now, more than 10 years later, there are no areas where the nerves under the skin were damaged and feel strange when touched, and they left the cheekbones moderately in the design, so I’m living with an impression that isn’t common but looks refined
Sometimes... I regret that I should have pushed harder during surgery to reduce the side cheekbones more.. But I’m in my 30s, when sagging around the mouth starts, and seeing marionette lines and sagging appear, if I had reduced the cheekbones..... I think I really would have regretted it. I’m still living while managing with laser lifting + thread lifting, and I’m so grateful that they persuaded and soothed my pre-surgery self and advised against cheekbone reduction..
