Hello. To start with the conclusion: 'I am spending happy days after my nose implant removal surgery, and although the process of looking for a hospital was by no means easy, I am writing this post in the hope that my experience may be of even a little help to someone.'
1. Reason for nose implant removal I had surgery to raise the bridge of my nose at a plastic surgery clinic in Apgujeong, but due to side effects where the nasal bridge bent to the right and the nasal tip drooped, I lived with it as it was for over 10 years. The doctor said my nose had originally been crooked and did not recommend revision surgery, but (thinking about it now, he was a quack;;) as time passed, it gradually got worse, so I decided to have it removed.
2. Me, who knew nothing about the world of plastic surgery When I first had nose surgery, I did not look into multiple hospitals and had it done at one clinic through an acquaintance's recommendation, which I think is why this disaster happened. So for the removal surgery, I went into it firmly determined to compare several hospitals before proceeding. I was such a beginner at first that I was flustered because hospital names were written only with initials, but now I am satisfied enough with my removal result that I want to give tips to people who are desperate.
3. Tips for finding a hospital 1) Exclude blacklisted hospitals I made a list starting with well-known hospitals commonly mentioned on several plastic surgery sites, booked consultations, and visited them. In the process, I found out that as many as 3 of the 6 places I visited were on blacklists. (Of course, I did not know when booking the consultations.) I was able to gather information in my own way by looking through post histories going back as far as 10 years and reading through YouTube comments thoroughly. What really shocked me was that after incidents, hospitals change their names, open anew, or keep actively promoting themselves on YouTube... But they are famous.... terrifying....... I am really... glad.. I found out quickly.. ★ Tips for finding a good hospital -If the doctor's name is included in the hospital name (confidence, but only if the hospital name has remained the same from its first opening until now) -A hospital that has stayed in the same location without moving for more than 10-20 years (hospitals with problems usually open somewhere else or change their name) -Be sure to check the doctor's career history and academic activities (continuous academic research is essential!)
2) Judging excessive consultations It is hard to tell whether a consultation is excessive at the first hospital, but after visiting about 5-6 places, you can distinguish it. If you organize each hospital in Excel after consultations and compare and analyze them, you can see common points and differences, and in the case of excessive consultations, there are many options. For example, if removing only the silicone is the common point, an over-treatment hospital may add more conditions, such as taking tissue from behind the ear or adding skin, and so on. When 3-4 hospitals say, 'You only need to do one thing,' but one or two hospitals in particular say, 'You also need 3-4 things,' it may be necessary to exclude them. I heard there are also lines doctors use as a measure to protect themselves, either to avoid responsibility or in case more tissue gets cut away after surgery and something needs to be added. (Careful, careful;;)
3) A doctor who knows how to give feedback rather than just flashy promotion These days, many plastic surgeons are active on YouTube, so before going for a consultation, you can roughly understand their tendencies and surgical cases. One of the reasons I decided I should have it done at this hospital was that even that day, surgical case videos were steadily being uploaded on YouTube, and I was watching one. It was a case reconstructing complications in a foreign woman. It was not an easy nose case, but toward the latter part of the video, the doctor asked, "Is there anything you feel disappointed about regarding the surgical result?" and the patient said, "There is nothing disappointing, and I like it." But the doctor said, "Personally, there is something I feel could be better. I would like the nasal tip to be raised a little more, so let's discuss it again after it settles to some extent." Personally, that comment resonated with me.
Some people may wonder, why think that way...? But while working at a company, finding a responsible adult is... by no means easy. After 10 years of work life, you start to see the difference between flashy-looking achievements and people with actual skill. I could see it. This person is an adult. A doctor who gives feedback on their own results is someone with skill.... Of course, since the basic conditions for finding a good hospital described above also applied... I decided to have surgery at that hospital.
