I had surgery on Tuesday, and today is day four. I am a woman in my fifties, and the first three days after surgery were really hard, but perhaps because I ate well and drank lots of water, the swelling has gone down well and each day feels different. After the cotton was removed two days later, breathing through my nose got a little easier, but they had put something like silicone inside my nostrils for a week, so breathing was still not very comfortable. When the cotton was in, it felt completely blocked and painful, but now it just feels somewhat blocked because of rhinitis. The incision site for the autologous costal cartilage hurt terribly when I stood up until day two (I still drove to the hospital), but it gradually improved from day three, and today it is much better. As long as I do not stand up suddenly and am careful, I can do housework. Nose surgery is really so difficult. My first surgery was about 25 years ago, when I was young and ignorant and did not even know the difference between a clinic and a plastic surgery hospital; I entrusted them with my first nose and lived with it for about 25 years (an L-shaped silicone implant was used; fortunately there was no inflammation, but my nose became crooked and the tip drooped). If I had not struggled with severe rhinitis and structural problems about three years ago, I would never have considered revision surgery, but because my rhinitis was so severe, I underwent revision at a hospital where otolaryngology and plastic surgery worked together. Cosmetic improvement was not my goal, but since I was having surgery anyway, I had it redone. Now, three years later, my rhinitis and deviated septum have recurred, and I disliked my revised nose so much that I had a third surgery. My biggest regret is that I was not careful enough when choosing hospitals until now. This really has to be the last time, and I just hope I recover well without inflammation or contracture. If you are considering nose surgery, everyone, please, please choose your hospital carefully.
