Hello. After my rhinoplasty, I received a lot of help and comfort from reading posts in this community, so I’m leaving my review in the hope that it may be at least a little helpful!
My original nose was low around the glabella area but became higher toward the tip, a straight nose with a broad, bulbous tip and horizontally wide nostrils.
For the surgery, I had silicone on the nasal bridge (about 4.5 mm) and ear cartilage for the nasal tip. As a result, my nasal bridge was slightly deviated to the left, and as the tip became higher, the nostril asymmetry became much more obvious ㅠㅠ As soon as the splint came off, I was in a panic wanting to have it removed... The clinic said it was because my original nasal bridge and nostrils were like that... At first, I really hated it, but maybe humans are creatures of adaptation, because after seeing it for a while, I did get used to it. I also didn’t know what kind of result removal surgery would bring, so I thought I should just live like this, but as my nasal bridge got higher, the skin was pulled tight, increasing exposure of the inner corners of my eyes (the red area), which made my preexisting dryness worse, and inflammation kept occurring in my right eye, so I was constantly going in and out of the ophthalmology clinic...
The biggest reason I decided on removal surgery was my eye health. After deciding to remove it, I got scared while reading posts in this community, but once I actually had it removed, I felt at ease and there was no foreign-body sensation either.. And strangely enough, I don’t have rhinitis symptoms either..?
Today is day 3 after removal, so because of the swelling, I don’t know how my nose will continue to change, but I’m satisfied!!
What I felt after removal surgery is: get it done at a good clinic! Simply removing it is something any clinic can do, but if you want proper management of changes inside the nose after cosmetic surgery (such as rasping/irregularities of the nasal bridge, damage to the alar cartilages, etc.), or if you want to improve even a little of the shortcomings of your natural nose despite removing it, I think it’s better to go somewhere skilled and experienced.
My tip was broad and bulbous too, so I told them that I wanted my tip to look more defined than my original nose and asked them to pay attention to that point when doing cartilage repositioning (alar cartilage), and even now, while there is still swelling, it looks better than my original nose!
When I decided on removal, I had already taken into account that I could end up looking worse than my original nose, so I’m satisfied with the removal surgery. Especially, the director was kind, and I also liked that they took photos of the removal surgery process and showed them to me. I’m happy to be free from the foreign-body sensation too! The only hard part was having to breathe through my mouth for 3 days because of the cotton packing.
There may be people like me who are worried about nose removal.. If it’s simply because of psychological anxiety, I don’t recommend it. After all, you got surgery to improve the shortcomings of the nose you had, so if you see those shortcomings again, you may feel very disappointed.
But if you’re considering it because of health reasons, a severe foreign-body sensation, pain, a botched surgery, etc., I think you can have removal surgery without worrying too much! Before doing it, I was also very worried about what if something went wrong, but now I think I made the right choice by removing it!
