Before <before surgery><1 week> Because my first nose surgery was done with L-shaped silicone, I developed inflammation after three years. For the second one, the bridge was too high and didn’t suit my face, so after a year I had a third surgery again. They said they were doing an osteotomy, but they cut the bone down even lower than my original nasal bridge, and without any explanation they used donated costal cartilage and forced the nasal tip up too much. After a few years, contracture started to develop. My nasal obstruction was severe too. Everyone who saw me told me my nose looked strange, and I was really stressed for years. I went to consultations here and there, but the doctors said they weren’t confident, that even if they operated this nose wouldn’t change much, that I should just remove everything and live like that. Everyone avoided my nose, and then I came here through an introduction from a close older friend who works at another plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam. Other doctors said they would only know why it became like this and what was going on after opening it up, but the director identified the cause well through CT and a very thorough examination, explained it to me, and said that although it wouldn’t be a completely high and glamorous nose, he would definitely make it pretty. The reason I ultimately chose this hospital after consulting at so many hospitals was that I thought the aftercare would be really reliable, and if a problem occurred, no matter when it happened, the director’s responsible words that he would take responsibility made me choose without hesitation. When my previous surgery went wrong, there was no doctor at the hospital; because I had met doctors who acted like it had nothing to do with them, I was really looking for a hospital with good aftercare.
I had one more repeat consultation. Thinking this would really be my last nose surgery, I decided to have surgery with autologous costal cartilage. While getting the revision surgery, I also had functional surgery. I had heard so many times that autologous costal cartilage hurts a lot, so I was really scared, and since I’m very timid and make a big fuss over pain, I was worried, but honestly, the costal cartilage area... it was so painless that it was surprising. My nose didn’t hurt at all except for the stuffiness from the cotton packing. The nurses who treated me after surgery must have been so annoyed by my fussing, but they were kind and did everything well without hurting me, so I was grateful. Today I finally took off the splint and saw my nose. There is still a lot of swelling, but my uneven nostrils and upturned nose have come down, and I was amazed to see that the nasal tip had become higher than I expected.. (This was a nose that other plastic surgery clinics said they could never do.) Now I’m so looking forward to how it will look once the swelling and bruising go down, and even though this look is still not complete because of swelling, the people around me and I are very satisfied.
