It’s been over half a year since I had facial contouring surgery. Facial contouring isn’t a surgery you can do as easily as double eyelid surgery. There’s probably less information about it than eyes or nose surgery too... So I wanted to share what I felt while getting facial contouring surgery!
First of all, I had a face shape where my anterior cheekbones were really prominent. My eyes and nose were okay, but my facial contour looked strange..? So whenever I edited photos, I always edited mainly around my facial outline, and I could never take photos with the basic cameraㅜㅠ... My side profile wasn’t pretty eitherㅠ I thought face shape was something I couldn’t fix... But an older friend I know told me about facial contouring surgery. After that, I became interested in it and searched online and went to consultations soooo much. Even among famous clinics with pretty reviews, there were quite a few clinics that had fatal accidentsㅠ... Since facial contouring is a major surgery, I looked mainly for safety and found a clinic that provided good aftercare, then decided to have surgery early this year.
I also had a really long consultation with the directorㅋㅋㅋㅋ I asked literally everything I was curious about, and the director drew pictures and showed me modelsㅋㅋㅋ When we looked at my face CT, my cheekbones really did look prominent...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ The director showed me before-and-after CT photos and explained things like how my cheekbones should be moved inward, and it felt really professional and trustworthy. They kindly explained the surgical method too, so I felt convinced. I paid the reservation deposit and had the preoperative tests, and I felt kind of strange, like, am I really getting facial contouring surgery..?ㅋㅋㅋ I had blood tests, an ECG, a chest X-ray, and various other tests, then set the surgery date, and time really flew by.
On the day of surgery, I was sooo nervous and scared. And hungry... Before surgery, I consulted with the director again, and when they marked my face, it suddenly felt so real. Before going into the operating room, a nurse calmed me down and told me not to be too nervous. I lay down on the operating table, and the anesthesiology director came in first and said it would be over when I woke up, and not to be scared. Honestly, I was still scared, so I asked them to put me to sleep quicklyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ But really, when I woke up, it was overㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Right after waking from anesthesia, it wasn’t extremely painful. But maybe I wasn’t fully awake yet, because I was out of it, sleepy, and I don’t really remember what I said. I stayed hospitalized for one day, and it was nice because the nurse came in often to check my condition. And maybe because I had general anesthesia, my throat was really scratchy, and I had a taste of blood in my mouth. Since I had a pain-control injection attached, it wasn’t painfully unbearable like what I had seen in reviews. (That doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt.) It felt kind of like my face had been punched a lot?
If you look at the photo taken the day after surgery, even my forehead area is swollenㅋㅋㅋ I looked so much like E.T. that it was hilarious, so I immediately sent photos to my friendsㅋㅋㅋ From day 3, I started swelling even more. I looked like a squirrel with a ton of acorns stuffed in its cheeksㅋㅋㅋㅋ
This is the day 11 photo, and I thought my face looked asymmetric, so I immediately KakaoTalked the manager. They said swelling normally goes down unevenly. They replied quickly and explained well, so I felt reassured. After a month, the major swelling had all gone down, and only one side still had swelling, kind of like after getting a wisdom tooth pulled. But with time, that really all went away too.
Until 2 months, I had numbness under my chin, but after that it slowly came back! Now, at half a year, there are no problems~ In the beginning, I was careful with food and deliberately didn’t open my mouth wide, but now I can do all daily activities. In reviews, I saw that gum tightness can happen, but I haven’t really felt much of that yet. At first, the swelling went down unevenly, so I worried that something had gone wrong, but now there’s no asymmetry at all, and it’s a surgery I’m so, so, so, so satisfied with. My satisfaction is so high that I’d do it again if I had to... Now I’m living very happily! Once I worked up the courage, it wasn’t a big deal. Since I solved the face shape that had stressed me out so much, I’m going to live even more diligently from now on!! Once again, thank you to the director who gave me a new life.
