My nose situation is written in detail in my previous posts.
Not long after I had everything removed, I wrote early on that I was satisfied.. But actually, as more time passed after that, I became somewhat dissatisfiedㅜㅜ
But it wasn't because anything looked particularly strange.. At first, I had this expectation(?) that the swelling would keep going down steadily. But the puffy nasal ala feeling didn't noticeably improve as much as I thought it would, and it kept feeling stagnant, so it was stressful. Photos of noses before and after removal get posted on the removal review board...(I posted mine too) But how should I put it, if you just crop and look only at the nose, it feels like, isn't it the same? It looks fine? But when you see the actual harmony, that perky nasal ala feeling disappears and it looks widened to both sides? Because of that, the overall refined feeling disappears a bit and it looks blunt. Before removal I couldn't see it, but now even when I just look at before-and-after removal nose photos, I get the feeling. So I also wonder whether photos have much meaning... Especially from the side, there isn't much difference, to the point that after removal can look prettier, and right after removal it also looks pretty because swelling makes it look higher. So I really feel side-profile photos don't mean much. For people who are stressed because their shape became blunter after removal, I think usually the front view is what's stressful...
Still, I tried to think about the advantages. First, the fact that my crooked nose became straight is an advantage.. But I had surgery in mid-December, and even until July my nose hurt when I wore a mask..(It wasn't always painful; there were days it hurt and days it didn't!) Especially, they said there had been severe Medpor adhesion on the left side, and that area hurtㅠㅠㅠ It seems it really takes a long time to healㅠㅠㅠㅠ Damn Medpor...
And another stress was that I couldn't get used to the wide nasal bridge after the silicone disappeared... This really suddenly makes the face look much wider sidewaysㅋㅋㅋ When my nose was augmented, there was a visual effect that made my face width look narrower too... But during consultations, because my nasal bridge itself had been rasped down for a hump, all the doctors shared the opinion that it was fairly wide and were worried, and I was even told that if I simply removed the silicone, the nasal bridge had been shaved so it absolutely wouldn't work. So I comforted myself that I had a wide but intact nasal bridge. ( Now I really like living without siliconeㅋㅋ But... for me, nose contour shading is essential..! I miss the past a little, when there wasn't much difference in contour whether I was bare-faced or wearing makeup... But I like that the anxiety about side effects, which I always pretended not to notice, is gone. Unless you are like me, with a congenitally wide nasal dorsum and the sharpest part gone because the hump was shaved a lot, making it look even wider, I think you will adjust faster than I did.)
Anyway, I still tried to think about the advantages. Even without silicone, it isn't a strange shape, just a wide nasal bridge; the twisted nasal tip became straight. The columellar scar is better than after revision surgery. The depressed area was corrected well. There was no columellar retraction. The left nostril that had been pulled upward came down fairly well even without nostril lowering. When I looked at the nose that had been pretty for several years after revision surgery, I missed that nose, but by the time I had decided on removal, I had unknowingly ended up with a deformed nose, and Medpor was also a material that had to come out anyway, so I controlled my mindset by telling myself it was the best choice.
Still, human feelings are what they are, and I did think, ah, when the director said we should do the nasal bridge with Megaderm while removing it, I should have done it. At first, right after removal, he said my nasal bridge was too low and that he could put in Megaderm after 6 monthsㅎㅎ Around July, when I went to the clinic for a follow-up and asked the director because my nasal bridge was low so my nose looked spread out, he mentioned Artecoll, so when I said I didn't like fillers, he said then Megaderm would be okay too. But when I talked again with the consultant (I honestly really like the consultant... I'm kind of a difficult patientㅋㅋㅋ I bothered her a lot, asking her to take after-photos with my phone and so onㅠㅠㅠ But she listened to all my concerns and things like that, didn't show any annoyance, and was very kind. I've had plastic surgery a few times, and usually people are only kind before surgery, but this consultant was even kinder after surgery...) When I brought up Megaderm for the nasal bridge, she gently discouraged me and advised that there was still swelling, and for one surgery, stabilization takes at least 6 months; for someone who has had two surgeries, 1 year; but since I had touched it three times including removal, I should wait 1 year and 6 months and decide then, and that it wouldn't be late at all. She said opening it repeatedly isn't good either.
When I thought about it rationally again, she was right.
Then around September, the pain disappeared too, and now before I knew it, the feeling of clay stuck on my nasal tip has also disappeared.
But of course! I still have to contour shade... This can't be helped...ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ And I really miss how well my surgical nose looked in selfiesㅋㅋ But real life appearance is important, you know Now I no longer think about opening up my nose! I'm also really glad I didn't do nasal tip revision surgery with an ear cartilage support, and I'm glad I didn't place donated dermis. If I touch my nose again, I feel like scar tissue will form even more.. And even if I touch it again, it's not like I'll get Song Hye-kyo's nose... My current nose without donated dermis or silicone is really comfortable. Ah! In terms of shape, one advantage is that I've tried both septal cartilage and Medpor as supports, and when it was just there, my nose looked perky, but when I smiled, the columella didn't really move and felt fixed, giving something like a droopy, arrow-shaped nose?? But without the support, maybe the columella rises together when I smile, so there is no arrow-nose feeling!!
I thought there might be people who, like me, go back and forth every month after removal, or people who want to hear experiences after removal, so as my 1-year removal anniversary is coming up, I wrote down whatever thoughts came to mind. I hope it helps even a little
When I was going around for removal consultations a year ago feeling like the sky was falling, that fear and stress were truly an experience I never want to go through again, so the stress of people in the removal board doesn't feel like someone else's problemㅜㅜ I hope everyone makes good choices and only has good results!
