Before writing my before/after/after/after/after/after post, what I want to say is first of all, this review will have very little about the surgical results, and it’s a review about how I, a total scaredy-cat and coward, decided to get facial contouring surgery, and even all 3 types. I hope you’ll keep that in mind while reading.
I had been worrying about facial contouring for almost a year. Honestly, I thought my overall facial balance, centering around my square jaw, was really off, and I really wanted to fix it, but since it’s a surgery where you go under general anesthesia and cut bone, I think my fear of the surgery itself + worries about side effects were both really huge.
And yet, once I decided I should get surgery, it only took about an hour, and honestly, I didn’t even go to the consultation thinking I would actually get surgery. I just wanted to hear how the surgery was done and see my face on CT. After going there, hearing about the hospital’s safety system and the director’s consultation, I think I suddenly got really ambitious and went ahead with the surgery. Even to me this sounds a bit promotional, so I won’t write the hospital name in the post.
First, I went to three consultations a day for four days. I think I went to every hospital said to be famous for facial contouring. Maybe it was just in my head, but after taking CT scans over and over, I felt kind of dizzy lol never copy this. Anyway, the last hospital I visited was a large one, and I could feel that they were paying the most attention specifically to safety, which I considered the most important part. (things like the aftercare process, the director’s consultation, and the overall hospital atmosphere) I also felt I could hear about the surgical results in a straightforward way, so I think that’s why I decided. I wanted the maximum reduction within a safe range, but they actually suggested a safer method instead.
Compared with worrying for 1 year, making the decision was honestly easy. Everyone thinks differently about cost, but by my standards the cost didn’t come out that high either, and after deciding, I just closed and opened my eyes and the surgery was over. That’s how it felt.
And about the pain and swelling, which I was most curious about before surgery, the pain is tolerable, and the swelling is on the bothersome side. There isn’t as much pain as I expected. It just feels like everything is continuously numb. But the swelling was more bothersome than I expected. I originally thought it would be the opposite, but that’s how it was. But pain and swelling vary a lot from person to person, so don’t trust my review too blindly either. When I was reading reviews, I saw a lot saying the pain was so bad they almost died and came back to life, so maybe I thought, “It’s better than that, so there’s not much?”
Oh, but before getting my stitches removed, when I used a straw to drink water, it felt like the pressure inside my mouth got stronger, so drinking water from a sauce bottle was much more comfortable. I also had muscle tying done, so there were some restrictions on moving my head, and thanks to that, taking medicine was easier too.
Until the 1-month mark, I had a fair amount of candy-like swelling, and after that it gradually went down. It may be making the best of it after the fact, but I really felt lucky that I had it done at a place with good aftercare, because their system for managing swelling was really well set up. They did InMode as aftercare.. After getting that, my face became quite a bit slimmer. Anyway, after passing the 2-month mark, there’s no problem eating meat, and almost all the swelling goes down. I don’t know if this will help, but I hope it does.
