Getting rid of the hump and correcting the crookedness was a huge complex for me, so I feel relieved that it was corrected with osteotomy without using a custom implant.
My nasal bridge is higher now, so people compliment me a lot saying my features look more defined lol I didn’t use costal cartilage and had surgery using only septal cartilage. Originally, they were going to check the firmness after opening it in the operating room, and whether or not they would mix in donated costal cartilage was a bit uncertain, but I was told that my septal cartilage was fairly firm and seemed sufficient, so they did not mix in donated costal cartilage.
My nose was noticeably crooked, so there were times people would embarrass me by asking why I wasn’t getting surgery for it. Yeah..^^ So I did it, you jerks.. Now they’re asking me for information lol; I told them I’d wait until it settled and tell them later, but I’m just going to cut them off.
I usually like keeping my appearance neat, but because my nose looked like this, it was a complex.. After surgery, I’m also satisfied that I look much cleaner overall.
They said alar reduction wasn’t necessary, so I didn’t do it. I had correction of the hooked nose and nasolabial angle, correction of the nasal tip defining point, and the columella was lowered. Surgical methods can differ by person, so I think it’s best to go around yourself and compare. As I did consultations, I learned exactly, “Oh, this is how the surgery is done,” and got to understand my own nose well.. I think that’s how you can make an objective judgment and choose a hospital with confidence...!
I thought the nasal bridge where I had osteotomy would hurt a lot, but hmm.. not really..? It was just a stiff, sore feeling? I felt that for a few days and then it went away. They did say my recovery was on the faster side. The surgery time itself was short, and maybe they controlled the bleeding well. I heard some people get nosebleeds right after rhinoplasty, but I didn’t have anything like that.
If anything, I struggled more after the packing was removed because of the runny nose, and because of the nasal crusts.. When you go to the hospital, they do manage it for you, but that, plus the moment the splint comes off and the sebum explodes. I can’t forget that humiliating moment.. Everyone, brace yourselves.... There’s no “That won’t happen to me~” It will definitely happen.
It’s now been a little over a month since my rhinoplasty, and I hope the swelling goes down quickly. It’s cold, so it would be a huge relief if I don’t catch a cold while walking around. I’m still scared to sneeze lol
