Review of unintentionally(?) revealing my breast surgery at a female-dominated workplace

It’s been about a month since I had surgery at Glam, and recently we had a company year-end party. It wasn’t my direct senior, but someone from another department kept staring at me. I wasn’t even wearing tight clothes, just a shirt. A regular-fit shirt. But later she casually asked me why I wasn’t drinking.

Of course, I wasn’t drinking because I’d had surgery, but I couldn’t say I’d had surgery, so I made an excuse like, I’m taking dermatology medication? Something like that. Then she went, “Ah~,” and said something like my body has been looking really good lately, so she’s surprised every time she sees me. That made me flinch, but I just let it pass?

The company dinner was on Thursday, and when I went to work on Friday, a close coworker told me that at the second round of drinks (I didn’t go because I wasn’t going to drink anyway), that person said, “Doesn’t it seem like she got breast surgery..?!?”ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Seriously, so creepy.. I’d been wearing oversized clothes all the time, so I don’t know when or what she saw, but apparently she kept saying that. So when other people were like, “Hm? Maybe? I’m not sure,” she said she thought so, because I wasn’t drinking and because last time I took annual leave saying I was going on a trip, it seemed like I came back after getting surgery, and I didn’t even change my profile photo to travel pictures and blah blah... Seriously, mind your own business........

After hearing that, I was so flustered. So I just told them then, you know? I told the team members I eat lunch with that yes, I did get breast surgery. I mean, it’s not like there’s anyone I need to impress, and we’re all women anyway..

Then I just started going to work wearing fitted turtlenecks and stuffㅋㅋㅋ In a way, I thought it worked out well. There are so many clothes I want to wear, but I hadn’t been wearing them. Honestly, if I wanted to brag, it would be normal for me to be the one desperate to brag, right? I don’t understand why someone would so sneakily interrogate others about someone else’s surgery when that person isn’t even there.

After fully coming out about my breast surgery, I wore whatever clothes I wanted comfortably, and later someone messaged me separately. There was also an employee who asked things like, she had surgery too but somehow her breast shape? line isn’t like that, and asked how many cc I got, whether I could tell her which clinic I went to, and that she also wanted to go for a revision surgery consultation.

Honestly, a lot of people think people who get breast surgery = did it because of men for no reason, so I was worried it would hurt my image, but I was surprised the reaction was gentler than expected.... There were actually quite a few people subtly taking the chance to ask for information. Anyway... I thought, wow, things like this really do happen in life.

I had meant to write a review after surgery....ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I didn’t expect to tell this kind of story. Still, maybe this counts as a not-too-bad breast-surgery coming-out? Though I do feel bad about the behind-my-back talk. But the fact that I had surgery... is true, so well...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ sigh...

I guess it’s true that Koreans are really interested in other people’s business. I really felt it all over again this time...
