Before <before after removing the splint after after side view> people say you do not need to make the first nose too dramatic, but I did not want to leave my nose to a hypothetical... I am someone who cannot take a lot of time off, and because I often have to step away, I did not want to use materials that would make me constantly worry about sagging or inflammation pain.
I was told things like autologous costal cartilage does not mean inflammation will never happen, custom implants are no different from regular ones, and so on, but inflammation and pain are ultimately matters of probability depending on the patient and the hospital, so I wanted to reduce the risky parts as much as possible. What mattered most was that I had heard too many times that if my nose did not have a solid support structure, it would sag, so I had already planned on using rib cartilage no matter what, and I also did not want to end up with a nose that sagged badly and became a complainer-type nose.
My motto was to do it cleanly in one go and have no regrets. Following that motto, I had surgery at a hospital that fit a straight-line style best. I will probably only know after more time passes whether there is any bending after surgery, or whether the inflammation is in a stable phase. For now, the line looks good to me, the pain is mild, and it seems bearable.
