I had functional nose and cosmetic nose surgery! Currently 5 months post-op! Functional nose: rhinitis surgery (treatment for deviated nasal septum and inferior turbinate hypertrophy) Cosmetic nose (all closed rhinoplasty): hump removal, insertion of 2 mm silicone at the glabella/nasal bridge, nasal tip cartilage repositioning + cartilage binding + septal cartilage insertion
The most important criterion for me in choosing a hospital was safety. For that reason, I preferred a private clinic over a large hospital, an ENT clinic over a plastic surgery clinic, and closed surgery over open surgery. I visited a few places that met these conditions (there weren’t that many), and in the end I decided on an ENT clinic. The decisive reason was that the director had a strict, principle-abiding, conservative style, so I trusted him. Below are a few episodes that are still funny when I think about them now.
- When I first went, he looked inside my nose and said my nasal condition was bad, and that he couldn’t operate until my nasal condition improved. After that, because I wanted surgery quickly, I went back almost once a month like I was making repeated earnest visits, and in the end I only had surgery 6 months after my first visit. - After deciding on surgery and consulting with the director, I was on my way home after telling the desk manager about my needs that I hadn’t fully explained, when the director called me again and said, “Why are you telling such important things to the nurse instead of the person who’s doing the surgery?” and told me to come back to the clinic. So I went back and recited the parts I had wanted. - During consultation too, he clearly said what was possible was possible and what was not possible was not possible. He doesn’t really give much hope. And he said that once you have nose surgery, you can never go back to your original nose, so decide carefully and, if there is anything you want, explain everything step by step. - If you go on the website, there are many before-and-after nose photos compared in an extremely realistic way. (My photos are also scheduled to go up there soon lol)
Besides this, I was persuaded by many things he said, such as using safer silicone, etc., so even though the price was not cheap, I decided on this place. To summarize in one line, I chose it because it did not feel at all like one of those everywhere-you-look, peak-commercial large plastic surgery clinics.
As a result, I’m very satisfied. The reason I’m satisfied is that I also wanted a natural-looking nose that doesn’t look obvious, rather than a flashy nose. ★★★[Most important] The director pursues 100% natural beauty and does not raise the nose excessively. He said he thinks it looks awkward cosmetically, and also because there is a chance various problems could occur due to the surgical technique. Therefore, I think it suits people like me who hope it won’t look like they had rhinoplasty, and I don’t think it suits people who want a very flashy, bam!!! kind of nose. For example, if you look at the after photo, the nose comes down in a straight line and just before reaching the nasal tip, there is a very, very slight tiny indentation visible, and he said this is also the director’s point for natural-looking rhinoplasty.
