In 2017, after finishing the college entrance exam and before starting university, I got my eyes/nose/receding chin done!
I went around to 3 clinics for consultations, and in the end I had it done at the last place I visited, ㅇㅆ Plastic Surgery.
Back then, probably because of some student event, I think I paid around 5 million won for all three together!
For the nose alone, I think it was about 1.5-2 million won?
I liked the price, and the doctor said he only did two surgeries a day, so it didn't seem like a factory-style clinic, so I had the surgery there.
I don't remember exactly how many millimeters it was, but silicone and ear cartilage were used. I had an upturned nose + blunt nose + bulbous nose, so I had surgery to raise the nasal bridge and lower the nasal tip.
When I first had it done, like most people who get rhinoplasty, I felt like I looked prettier, so I liked it. But maybe because my original nose was blunt and had strong tissue, my nose gradually got shorter and the lowered nasal tip started going back up again (it's not contracture!).
Since my original nose length is what it is, I think no matter how much the tissue was supported, it was bound to move upwardㅠㅠ
Compared with photos from right after I first had it done, the nasal tip has become much rounder and the height has come down too (though there must have been swelling then). And maybe because of the lowered nasal tip, it feels like a bit of fat is covering the nasal bridge that used to look slim.
Honestly, I don't think it's the clinic's fault, and it seems like something most people experience. Until the 3-year mark, I just lived with it thinking that's how it was. The improvement was bigger, after all.
But around September-October this year, I started to see that my nose was a little crooked. Other people say they can't tell, that you really have to look closely to notice, (like they only somewhat agree when I say, "If you look here like this, it's crooked, right?") but I can see that the nasal bridge is crooked, and along with that, I also feel like that septal area (columella) is crooked too.
When I trace down the nasal bridge with my fingertip, I can feel even more that it isn't straight.
Also, starting a while ago, when I press the area where the left nasal bridge and silicone connect, it hurts like a bruise, and I can feel the silicone seam area too. The right side isn't like that. There is also a bluish show-through effect at the glabella and the beginning of the nasal bridge.
Everyone says that if it's nasal inflammation or early signs of contracture, symptoms like pain/heat/swelling appear right away,
so I don't think it's inflammation, but I'm still so anxious. Since I'm an international student, I'm worried something might happen while I'm abroad, so now I really want to remove the silicone and have revision surgery without an implant!
Revision surgery is more expensive than the first surgery, so I'm debating whether to have it. I've heard people say the nose definitely requires revision surgery, but now that I'm actually facing it, I have a lot on my mind.
Everyone, when you get your first surgery, make sure to check well whether your original nose is crooked or not (even if it isn't, it can become crooked like mine!). They say nasal swelling, including minor residual swelling, lasts 1-2 years, right?
I don't think I'm in a position to tell you to do it or not... Don't obsess excessively over the nasal bridge! (I actually think the parts you should pay attention to are the nasal tip or columella, or the nostrils/alar wings.) I hope you calculate all of that carefully before having surgery.
