Before/after A few years ago, I had surgery at a large hospital for an upturned nose, using no implants and only operating on the nasal tip. (They said that if they adjusted only the nasal tip without touching the hump, it would improve the appearance of looking like an upturned nose.)
Result of the first surgery There was no big difference in the dorsal hump, and it felt like the columella and nasal tip did not come down enough. Even in photos, the nasal tip looked flat, so my nose still had no three-dimensional contour.
I had absolutely no desire to insert silicone to raise the nasal bridge, and I would have been satisfied if only the short nasal tip had improved a bit and the hump did not look too severe, but there was nothing I was satisfied with at all, so after more than a year had passed since the surgery, I decided to get revision rhinoplasty.
Because I wanted the revision surgery to be done without implants as well, I started looking for a doctor with many reviews of implant-free revision rhinoplasty. Over almost half a year, I researched hospitals and doctors, read reviews carefully, went to consultations and listened to what the doctors said, organized the information, studied separately again, and checked whether it was worth getting revision surgery.
Among them, the option that appealed to me the most was the direction of making the nasal bridge somewhat smoother by filling it with postauricular fascia without using implants, and shaping the nasal tip using cartilage from both ears.
Now, quite a bit of time has passed since the revision surgery, and even though the nasal tip shape was made with ear cartilage, it is being maintained without drooping.
The photos are from when I was looking through my photo album, before the revision surgery and roughly around 2 weeks? after getting the revision surgery.
I had really wondered, is there a limit to implant-free rhinoplasty? But after getting the revision surgery, I learned that it is definitely possible even without implants…
For me, it succeeded on the second try, but everyone who wants implant-free rhinoplasty, find a good doctor and succeed in one go. I think a nice nose shape can come out well even without implants.
