It had been 7 years, and because the silicone implant was inserted too short, the denting on my nasal bridge kept getting worse, so I replaced it this time. (I don’t recommend the clinic where I had my first surgeryㅠ The doctor himself seemed kind of cool and nice, but it felt like he performed the surgery in a very simple way only;;)
Honestly, I was too lazy and kept living with it even though I knew, but the reason I decided on surgery was nasal obstruction. I already had rhinitis, but lately it became harder to breathe, and my nasal mucous membrane tore so I bled often.. Even though I have rhinitis, it wasn’t to that extent. And maybe it was my imagination, but it felt like something used as a support in one nostril was sticking out, like it was blocking my airway..
At the time, they said they had built a support with septal cartilage, but during revision consultations, most clinics reacted like there was no septal cartilage and they didn’t know where it had been used.. They said maybe because my crooked nose was severe, it all got used for correcting thatㅋㅋ
Anyway, so I replaced the silicone implant.. During the first surgery, I only thought about height, but during the revision I learned that trimming the silicone line before inserting it is really important. I learned this time that they should have thinned the end of the commercially available silicone implant and also trimmed the silicone on both sides a bit to fit each person’s nasal bridge.. No wonder I always said during revision consultations that the silicone somehow looked obvious, but everyone only reacted that once you place silicone, it can’t be helped. They said I had to accept it.. But only my current director said it was highly likely because the silicone hadn’t been shaved properly, and since one side of my face is asymmetrical, shaving it to match that would improve it a bit..!
Anyway, originally I wanted to put in a support with ear cartilage in my nose to make it prettier, but they said my nostrils are already small and I have nasal obstruction, so if I did that, the internal nasal valve would get even narrower and breathing would become much harder than now.. And if I raised it, the side profile line would become pretty the way I wanted, but from the front, the sides of the nostrils would look slightly pulled inward like a pinched nose.. I honestly don’t like that kind of look (I already have a somewhat round and natural impression), so I decided to replace only the silicone implant. Keeping the nasal bridge height near the glabella the same, and raising only the nasal dorsum veeeery slightly compared to before. Since I was doing it anyway, I really wanted to become prettier, so it was such a shameㅠ But honestly, even before, my nose had a somewhat rounded impression, so I did learn during my first surgery that this was the limit..ㅠ
Anyway, I replaced only the silicone implant through a closed approach, and after it was over they showed me the silicone that had been inside before, and it seriously hadn’t been modified at all.. So I guess that’s why I had that sense, which only I could feel, that the silicone was showing through. (At the time, they placed 3.5.) Anyway, unlike the previous surgery, there was just one splint stuck on my nasal bridgeㅋㅋ Honestly, my previous nose surgery was so hard that I went in very mentally prepared, but it felt kind of anticlimactic. My younger sibling said that although the splint was on, the nasal bridge line seemed higher than before and looked better.
But what is fascinating and makes me curious is.. I only replaced the silicone implant, but my nasal obstruction is completely gone now. I thought swelling would actually make it a bit hard, but I can breathe better than usualㅜㅜㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Does this normally happen just from replacing silicone?? I’m curious if anyone has experienced this.. And if I only replace the silicone implant without manipulating the nasal tip, like me, will my aesthetic satisfaction still be better than before? —— On day 2, I felt more relieved than expected about the swelling (thinking back to my first surgeryㅠ) This clinic told me to come in even on day 2ㅋㅋ so I went, and they disinfected it again, replaced the splint, applied ointment, and gave me an antibiotic injection!ㅋㅋ I like the aftercare so far.. I’m scheduled to remove the splint on days 4-6. —- It’s day 7. There is yellow bruising and major swelling, but because I didn’t do the nasal tip, there is almost no swelling compared with my first surgery. The shape is not hugely different from before because I only replaced the silicone implant, but I’m satisfied because all the tiny parts that only bothered me seem to have improved (the part where the nasal bridge comes down from the glabella, where the side of the silicone showed through and made it look obvious + the sunken nasal dorsum).
