Before <before surgery> After <2 weeks> I had surgery on November 27, and at 2 weeks post-op, I had ptosis correction, skin excision, and an incisional procedure to lower the line. The director was very confident, and before I even told him, he identified problems that other hospitals hadn’t caught, so I chose this hospital. It was my third revision surgery, and since my upper eyelids were originally puffy and the skin was thick, I thought any surgery would just make them look sausage-like. That happened with my first double-eyelid surgery and also with my second, but although the bruising was pretty severe from the day of surgery, there wasn’t swelling. I could feel from the operating room that my eyes had become lighter, so I liked that. Unlike all my surgeries up to now, the director was really meticulous, doing one stitch and checking, then another stitch and checking, so it felt like we were creating the eyes together. I could tell he was skilled. He really performs surgery well, and I got away from that sausage-like feeling; from the day of surgery, the line was very clean and I liked it. On day 3, the swelling got really bad, but even so, it wasn’t thicker than my previous eyes, so I thought it looked really natural. But when I opened my eyes wide, the eye that used to open well opened with a startled, glaring look, and as I put force into my eye, a blood vessel burst in my eyeball. I was so anxious, wondering if only one eye had been overcorrected and if the ptosis correction would become uneven again, so I texted the manager. She called right away and told me that they had actually done more ptosis correction on the opposite eye from the one with the startled look. When I got the stitches removed, the doctor said it was because of swelling and that that side was originally bigger in eye size. He said there wasn’t much difference, but one of the reasons I had surgery was that the mucosal eversion differed between both sides, so I’m worried it may not improve. (I want to upload a photo of the startled-looking eye, but is it okay to upload it?) The mucosal eversion looks even more different than before,,, Other people say there isn’t a big difference, but I keep noticing it, and when I came for the hospital consultation, they noticed it right away, so I thought, “This will definitely improve,” but I’m a bit disappointed. It hasn’t even been a month, but since there’s no swelling, I’m worried that if it goes down a bit more, it’ll become an inner double eyelid. They said the mucous membrane is due to swelling, so I’m going to wait and see. There must be a reason they gave a generous 3-year AS period, right? I think the consent form said something like they won’t do it for subjective dissatisfaction, but then that’s not really the meaning of AS,,, Anyway, I like it more than my previous eyes, and I’m glad the line became cleaner. Even if I went back, I think I’d choose this hospital again.
