Honestly, my spread-out nostril wings were the biggest stress for me, so I looked into whether I should just do alar reduction, but I was told that once the alar base is cut, it can’t be restored later, and that raising the nose height would also become impossible, so I ended up doing nose tip surgery.
I do have some nasal bridge height, but because of the hump it looked wide, and my nose tip was droopy. So I had hump osteotomy, raised the tip with septal cartilage + ear cartilage, and covered the osteotomized area with AlloDerm (artificial dermis). I wanted to do alar reduction together, but the director said that if I raised the nose tip, it would naturally look narrower, so I didn’t need to do it.
It turned out really pretty and I stayed satisfied, but lately now that all the residual swelling has gone down, the nose tip height seems to be gradually coming down and the alar width also seems to look wider...ㅋㅋㅋ In the end, I booked alar reduction.
I had resistance to putting in an implant, so I only did the nose tip, but now that all the swelling is gone, every time I look in the mirror I wonder if I should have put in silicone. People who got silicone really turned out glamorous and pretty... I wanted something natural at first, but this is how I ended up feeling.
Anyway, they also say the nose looks more defined after alar reduction, and I really don’t want to touch it as a revision rhinoplasty, so I plan to do just the alar reduction and be done. But I’m doing it externally, so I just hope the scar is minimal,,, I’ve already even planned out going to a scar removal clinic if the scarring gets severe ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Anyway, even if you want something natural, later you end up thinking you should have done a bit more~ I think it’s okay to do slightly more than the degree you want from the beginning.
