Two-Jaw Surgery Review

Before before before / after after after Reason for surgery When taking photos, I kept being bothered by my asymmetric face and protruding lower jaw, and when eating, tough foods were hard to chew. Also, since I was young, whenever I went to the dentist for orthodontic treatment, they would say my jaw was a case that needed two-jaw surgery. So when my jaw growth had stopped, I started looking for hospitals for two-jaw surgery. The reviews for Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery were not bad, so I chose that hospital and had 2 types of facial contouring done (square jaw_chin).

<1 month> After about a month, I became able to chew not only porridge but also rice or chicken. Just being able to chew little by little made me feel really, really good lol The swelling, especially around my cheeks, still feels particularly puffy, but compared with right after surgery, I can feel that my face has gotten smaller, and I can see the difference in the mirror too. People definitely tell me more often than before surgery that my impression looks gentler, so I found it fascinating that changing just my jaw could make my impression look different. And no one around me knew I had surgery, so when I later told them I had surgery, they were surprised and said, “Really? I didn’t know,” which was kind of funny. If more swelling goes down from here, I think my face will become even prettier. Since the effects of the surgery show right away, time feels like it passes even faster, and I’m looking forward even more to my face and my life becoming better than right after surgery.

<3 months> Now the anesthesia in my mouth muscles seems to be gradually wearing off and I feel tingling, but they said I need to keep using and loosening the muscles around my mouth. Since they said sensation is coming back, I thought it was a good sign. My facial swelling has gone down so much that it’s not even comparable to 1 month ago. The swelling around my cheeks seems almost all gone too. When I went to the hospital, they said more would still go down, so I’m looking forward to it. As for food, I feel like there’s almost nothing I can’t eat now. I can chew meat without difficulty, and now having had surgery already feels like an old memory, to the point that I sometimes forget I had surgery. But since the restriction of not being able to eat rice is gone, it feels like the limits disappeared, so I really eat a lot more rice and food tastes better too. I think I need to be careful about overeating now. At the time of surgery, it was really extremely hard, but now that time has passed, I think I did really well to have the surgery, and I’m satisfied with it.

<Recent, half a year later> The swelling keeps going down hehe Maybe because I’m still young, when I look in the mirror, it already feels like half of my face from the time of surgery has shrunk. Now I go to the dentist regularly once a month to check my teeth and prepare for orthodontic treatment. It feels good to be continuously managed. But while wearing braces, various food debris getting stuck in the braces is something I think I need to pay some attention to. Still, in terms of developing a habit of continuously caring about and paying attention to my teeth, I feel like I’m living a better life than before. As my face gradually gets smaller, I think I’m becoming a bit more confident in my face. Since I had surgery when I was young, the swelling also goes down quickly and it feels more natural hehe I’m curious what it will be like when I reach 1 year hehe I hope my review was helpful!
