Several years ago, I already had one rhinoplasty using donated costal cartilage, but the nasal bridge looked too thick, and compared with the bridge, the nasal tip was low, so I worried a lot. My job involves taking photos, and I’m in my late 30s, so people said that at a glance my nose itself was high and not bad, but whenever I took photos, it looked so strange, which upset me ㅜ It also felt like I looked older ㅜ I wanted a nose that was dramatic but natural and made me look younger.
What I thought about the longest while planning revision rhinoplasty was that I didn’t want to use donated costal cartilage again, and I had long thought I should use costal cartilage, but I needed to find a doctor who really does costal cartilage properly. That was the most important thing. Since there are many people around me who had nose surgery, I heard a lot here and there, and I considered O&Young, The Nan, Kowon, and Chiu a lot. The reason I chose Director Kim Hyung-taek at Kowon is that I had heard since I was younger that O&Young was really good at autologous costal cartilage for dramatic noses, and I heard that this doctor had worked there for a long time as an autologous costal cartilage specialist when O&Young was famous as the top place for nose surgery. I also heard his technique for harvesting costal cartilage is really excellent (for me, the scar near the rib area was also extremely... important.....), so I went for a consultation. He calmly and kindly listened carefully to what I said, and showed me a Photoshop simulation in the line I wanted. It was exactly the feeling I wanted, so I decided right away.
On the day of surgery, I was 30 minutes late, so I rushed in and don’t even know what I was thinking when I entered the operating room. Before surgery, I was surprised by how meticulous the nurses were with disinfection and anesthesia preparation. It’s easy to think of rhinoplasty as a light surgery, but since I also had to have costal cartilage harvested, I was very scared and nervous ㅜ The director came in, greeted me, and anesthesia began. That was reassuring too, and after the surgery, I had none of that sore throat after anesthesia, so it was very comfortable. I only felt thirsty, and the costal cartilage donor site didn’t hurt at all, so I wondered why? lol No matter how I think about it, I really don’t know why it was fine; it really didn’t hurt. I had it under sedation, and it took about 30 minutes to harvest the costal cartilage and about an hour and a half for the rhinoplasty. (They also removed old filler from long ago that had remained like beads.) Rather, anesthesia preparation seemed to take more than 30 minutes; they applied disinfectant everywhere.
After finishing the surgery and coming out, it had been just a little over two hours, so I thought, he really works fast and the surgery must have gone well without problems.
There wasn’t much swelling after surgery either, and it actually swelled more on day 3.
After a week, I removed the splint and finally saw my nose line. The angle is razor-sharp ㅠㅠ I’m moved.
For those who want a dramatic nose or a costal-cartilage nose, I recommend Director Kim Hyung-taek at Kowon. The nasal tip and glabella still feel swollen, but when I had surgery before, I think the swelling lasted much longer. This time there’s really not much swelling, and the line is so pretty now ㅜ They said once the swelling goes down, it will come down slightly and become more natural, but I like it even now, so I think I’ll feel a bit sad when the swelling goes down ㅠ
I heard from the nurse that he finished the autologous costal cartilage donor site very meticulously because it must not leave a scar ㅠㅠ I’m very grateful to the director for paying so much attention.
The line seems to have come out well, so I’m really, really satisfied!
