4-Year Follow-Up After Orthodontics

I got it done because my teeth were a little spaced apart since they were small compared to my jaw size. It’s been about 4 years since I finished orthodontic treatment, and I’m satisfied. Since I did it because my teeth were spaced apart, I didn’t have any extractions, and I think the treatment period was about 2 years. When I first started orthodontics, I remember it wasn’t excruciatingly painful, but it was subtly painful and irritating because I kept noticing it. Honestly, I expected huge changes when the braces came off, but I’m just me with straight teeth... haha The downside is that I have to be careful when biting into hard foods with my front teeth..! After treatment, they bonded retainers to the back of my upper and lower teeth, and they don’t cause any inconvenience in daily life. They also gave me a clear retainer to wear while sleeping, like a denture, but I think it’s okay not to use that one in particular. Even though I almost never wear it when sleeping, from my perspective there’s not much difference from when I first finished treatment. (Of course, it’s probably better to wear it when sleeping, right??) But if the retainer attached to the back comes off and you leave it alone, your teeth will definitely shift. Go to the clinic right away and have it reattached!!
