It has been about half a year since surgery, and the scars have all healed now. To improve my broad, flat nose, which had been a complex since I was young, I had alar reduction, cartilage tying, and dorsal hump removal.
1. Alar base The alar area definitely improved, and I was satisfied because my face looked less spread out when I smiled. Another unexpected good point was that the nasolabial fold indentation used to be severe when I smiled, but as the nasal alae that used to spread sideways gathered inward, it was nice that there was an improvement effect where the depth of the nasolabial folds looked less pronounced. The problem is that in photos taken from below, the nostril size has decreased a lot, and maybe because of this, breathing is more uncomfortable than before. I originally had a deviated septum too, but now I breathe asymmetrically at about 10:7. Still, since it was what I wanted, it’s a plus.
2. Cartilage tying did not make much difference in many ways. However, I asked them to use dissolvable sutures, but after surgery they said they had used non-dissolvable sutures. No matter how busy they were, I can’t believe this wasn’t communicatedㅠㅠ It was too small to call an accident, so I let it pass, but it didn’t feel good. I think this is + - 0.
3. And I had a very slight dorsal hump on the nasal bridge, and they said they would remove it for free. My nose was already not high, so I had a strong aversion to shaving anything down, and I wondered if it was really necessary, but they said it could make my image look more refined, so I told them to go ahead. That was the mistake... From below, the nasal bridge definitely looks slightly raised, or almost the same, but from the front, the height that used to create a thin highlight disappeared, so as much as the broadness of the alar area decreased, the nasal bridge instead looked wide. For me personally, this was a minus.
When looking at my whole face, there isn’t a very big image change from before. It’s strange because the nose shape feels like it changed a lot. Anyway, in the end it’s + - 0, so I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a failure, but I personally feel very disappointed, so while getting surgery for my deviated septum (breathing asymmetrically), I’m considering having another surgery at a different hospital. I hope that next time I’ll be able to write a review with a happier heart.
