I’m going to write a review of days 2-6 after rhinoplasty. I feel like there aren’t many reviews from this period. So I’m writing one..
I went to get the cotton packing removed on day 2. I didn’t know the result of the surgery yet because I hadn’t had the splint taken off, and I thought that once I went to the clinic I’d meet the doctor, so I’d hear something at least. I went at the time they told me to come, but a nurse removed the cotton, not the doctor. I was like, huh? I asked, “What about the doctor?” and they said he was in surgery so I couldn’t see him. I don’t know if the surgery was running late or if nurses usually remove the cotton packing, but they just pulled the cotton out and I left with a refreshed nose and an empty feelingㅋㅋㅋㅋI mean, I haven’t seen the director once since the surgeryㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋI’m still dumbfoundedㅋㅋI thought the consultant was the directorㅋ So I’m now experiencing why the clinic’s ratings are low compared to the director’s skills. Anyway, on day 2, after they quickly pulled out the cotton, the swelling really started going up like crazy. Bruising around my eyes also started turning blue. It didn’t get severely bad, but I don’t know if that’s because I applied bruise cream from the first day. Anyway, for the first time in my life, I breathed so freelyㅋㅋThat part was really so nice. But from that day on, I’ve been facing a new kind of pain every day. It was nice up to the point of finally being able to breathe properly for the first time, but the inside of my nose started getting insanely dry. It was like a nose that wouldn’t allow even a single drop of runny nose; nothing flowed, and it was dry the whole time. I seriously lived with a humidifier placed around my nose all day. Now that I’ve finished taking the runny nose medication, it’s a little more bearable. But it’s still not moist. On day 3, the inner-eye crowding started getting seriously bad. How bad was it? No matter what I did, my iPhone couldn’t recognize me. My family said, “Your eyes were already close together, but now they’re even more crowded, who are you?” and even my dog kept just staring at my face. I was so stressed that I cried and made a huge fuss, asking what I should do. I tried to control my mindset and told myself it must be swelling, it must be swelling, and pulled myself together. And the eye crowding returned about 95% to normal on day 6. What a relief.. By around day 4, the bruises turned yellow and spread widely. I also got bruising on the inside of my lips, and from then on my front teeth hurt like crazyㅜ.. I’ve never had braces, but it hurt enough to make me think maybe this is what braces feel like. My nose was also throbbing and painful, but now on day 6, that has gone down a lot. On day 5, I don’t know if the dryness got better or if I got used to it, but anyway it was still dry, though it became tolerable. But from this point, the foreign-body sensation started like crazy. It feels heavy, and I didn’t even raise it that much, so I feel so wronged that it’s this heavy. But from this day, the swelling went down a lot, so my face started to roughly show. On day 6, the swelling went down a bit more, so the eye swelling became about the level of a day after eating ramyeon. But no matter how I look at it, my nose doesn’t seem any different from before, and even with the splint on, my dad said I really have no nasal bridge (Dad, I had surgery...) so I thought, I knew I asked for it to look natural, but if it’s going to look this identical, why did I even get surgery! But the more I look, the more I feel like maybe it became very subtly, just a tiny bit prettier. It’s a really subtle difference, but it feels like maybe it got better? Anyway, I’m getting the splint removed tomorrow, and I’m curious whether my nasal bridge will have gone up as much as the look I wanted. I think I’ll also be able to tell whether this foreign-body sensation is because of the splint or because of the silicone. The consultant said I’ll definitely be able to meet the director tomorrow, so if I meet him, I’m going to ask everything I’m curious about. I’ll try uploading photos tomorrow after getting the splint removed.
