I kept putting it off, and only got it done after 6 and a half years. I had it done at the same hospital where I had the surgery, and it cost around the upper 1 million won range. I kept postponing it because I still remembered how much I suffered from the general anesthesia.
It was done under general anesthesia, and right after the surgery I couldn’t breathe and felt like I was going to die, and they kept telling me not to fall asleep and to open my eyes, but I kept closing them and it was so hard. Luckily, I felt okay in less than 10 minutes. (For reference, when I had the cheekbone surgery, the feeling after waking up from general anesthesia, like I had drunk 100 bottles of alcohol, lasted for more than 5 hours, and I really thought I was dying. Cheekbone surgery normally doesn’t require hospitalization, but I was hospitalized too.) After lying in the recovery room for only about an hour after surgery, I felt better, so I was discharged right away and took the bus home by myself.
My voice was almost gone for about 30 minutes, and for about 2 hours I could only speak weakly and sounded hoarse. Now, after clearing my throat a few times, I’m bringing up a little bloody phlegm and my voice is fine. But my throat is extremely sore, like I have a bad cold.. I keep tasting something bitter and I feel so stuffy
The swelling is less than I expected. On day 1, it just felt a little puffier than usual? Other people wouldn’t really notice unless I told them. The swelling was only slight, like the feeling after a tooth extraction?
They say it will swell more starting tomorrow, so I’m worried, but they also say the swelling goes down quickly. As someone who has had a lot of facial liposuction and Accu before, this level feels mild to me. It seems like a lot of it will go down within a week!?
I can open my mouth comfortably, and I can eat normally right away. I’m just planning to wait 2 weeks before eating hard, salty, or spicy foods. Having stitches inside my mouth makes eating a bit inconvenient.
I was worried because it had been so long since the original surgery, but they said all the pins were removed, and compared with when I had contouring surgery, it’s much, much better. I have to get an IV for pain relief from today until day 3, so that part is a bit inconvenient.. lol The pain is just slightly stiff and mildly sore? Totally tolerable.
I was so miserable after contouring surgery and regretted it so much, but now that the pins are out I feel a bit refreshed. If you’re considering pin removal, I hope you won’t be too scared and won’t keep putting it off, but just get it done!!
