1-Year Review After Nose Surgery

I had functional rhinoplasty + cosmetic rhinoplasty 1 year ago. For about 2 weeks after surgery, it was really hard. I think I struggled quite a bit even up to the 1-month mark. I had silicone for the nasal bridge + septal cartilage for the nasal tip (not ear cartilage). They said they would do nostril reduction, but I was scared for no reason so I didn't do it. They said they would do a slight osteotomy, and I had rhinitis surgery (nasal valve, nasal septum) done together. At first, the shape scared me a bit, but from around 2 weeks the swelling went down a lot, so by about 1 month it looked much more natural. After that, the swelling kept going down too. At about 3 months, I think it was almost the final shape. There isn't much difference between then and now at 1 year.

The nasal discomfort and things like that really lasted a long time. Even after 6 months, it was still uncomfortable.. Now at 1 year, it has improved a lot, but if you ask whether it feels the same as before surgery, not at all. It's still uncomfortable to touch my nose, and wearing a mask is uncomfortable too. When I'm just staying still, I don't notice it at all. In the beginning, even just the mask touching it was so uncomfortable, so it was really inconvenient during COVID. Now it's manageable enough.

Breathing through my nose improved quickly on one side, but the other side took a long time. One side still isn't perfect. So I'm planning to go to the clinic once. I feel like they'll probably just say it went well, but I should still talk to them. I had functional rhinoplasty done too, so it shouldn't be uncomfortable to breathe.. One side still feels a bit stuffy in the nostril. Honestly, it's at a level where I can live with it though.

Personally, I'm satisfied with the shape. I focused on making it as natural as possible, and it turned out so natural that people around me who are not very observant wouldn't know unless I told them. People don't really notice that I had surgery. But if you ask whether the shape is the same as before, that's not the case. It feels naturally improved.
