An acquaintance of mine has styling experience and has also had a lot of cosmetic procedures, so they recommended a clinic to me. I made a deposit there last Wednesday and had the surgery at 1 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday!!! Even if I make typos, please just think I’m still a little out of it and be understanding!! ㅠㅠ Since nose surgery is something people do a lot these days, almost as much as double eyelid surgery, when people give tips for choosing a clinic, they usually recommend places with a strong reputation for revision nose surgery, and I think I was leaning that way too! Still, if you go for consultations and find a place where you think, “Oh! This is it!!” then I’d recommend going there! Because some people end up unhappy with the shape later and get it done again, so make sure you look at a lot of review photos and keep narrowing down the noses you really like. Strangely enough, it really narrows down to one or two places. That was the case for me! I hope this helps ㅠ
1. How I felt on the day of surgery: First of all, this was my first nose surgery, and I’m an enormous coward among cowards, so even when I was filling out the consent forms my hand was shaking so badly that I had to hold my right hand with my left hand while writing. I was so scared I was gagging a lot too. I’m really the biggest scaredy-cat among scaredy-cats... But just like people here said, I was amazed that once you fall asleep and wake up, it’s already over... Don’t worry too much like I did, seriously! I actually have a fear of anesthesia, and people who have had sedation anesthesia will know the feeling: suddenly your body starts buzzing, you feel like you’re dropping somewhere unknown, and it feels stuffy and strange? Also, I was worried because my breathing is weak, but... everyone, really don’t worry at all.. It’s honestly just sleep.. I didn’t hear or feel anything.. I just slept deeply, and breathing was completely fine.. Actually, before the nose surgery, I also had fat repositioning around the lower eyelids, and during that I felt some stinging in my eyes and went “ugh ugh ugh” maybe three times? The nurse and the director said, “It’ll be over soon~~” and it really finished quickly, then suddenly the nurse said, “We’re going to the nose now~” and before I could even finish thinking, “Wow, this is big...” I lost consciousness, and when I opened my eyes I was on the operating table with a nurse holding me up saying, “It’s finished~~ Please get up~~” and they helped me to the recovery room! Oh, and after the anesthesia wore off I felt a little nauseous, but not as much as before, so I stayed in the recovery room for about 10 minutes? Then my husband called to say he was almost there, and as soon as he arrived I quickly put my clothes on by myself and left! Maybe it was because the anesthesia was different..? The first time I had sedation anesthesia (7-8 years ago), I had double eyelid surgery, and even after resting for an hour I still felt nauseous, so back then my mom dressed me and I was still out of it even after going home, but today I was really fine! I’m guessing the anesthetic was different? For reference, I’m someone who gets drunk from half a can of beer or one shot of soju! I’m an extremely weak drinker now and back then too, but today I was really fine, seriously!
2. Surgical area & pain I had lower eyelid fat repositioning, and for the nose I had osteotomy + hump reduction + septum + tip only! Was it septum..? If there wasn’t enough, they were going to use ear cartilage, but they didn’t need to! For the eye fat repositioning, if I turned my head a certain way I could feel the stitches, so it was just a slight sting? It’s better than I expected so far..? And my nose just feels numb? Like the numbness you get after bumping into something really hard? It’s still bearable! The swelling is also much less than I expected, but people here say the real swelling starts from days 2-3, so I’m looking forward to that~~^^ For now, 12 hours after the first stage, the pain is better than I expected!! Also, as for breathing, I suffered from the flu a few weeks ago and after that my nose started running like crazy, so I was breathing only through my mouth and sometimes my nose was running so much that I had tissues stuffed in both nostrils during class... so maybe that’s why? Personally I’m really okay.. Even now.. My throat is dry, but at this level it’s just like a cold?
3. Words I want to share with those getting nose surgery If you’re someone who worries a lot like me, you’ll probably be shaking badly when you go, but honestly, once you sleep and wake up, it’s over! Don’t worry too much! I read reviews saying the nurses poke around a lot to remove nose hairs, so I trimmed my nose hair the day before, but since you won’t remember anything once you’re anesthetized, I don’t think it’s really necessary! And since you have to breathe through your nose, lip balm and a straw are essential! Since you can’t breathe through your nose, your lips turn into a desert in real time, so definitely bring lip balm, and if you have a guardian who can come with you, tell them to bring 1 liter of water and a straw for sure!
