I got nasal tip surgery + alar rim lowering from Director Ryu (it was a revision surgery. My surgery was 7 years ago, and as time passed my nostrils became pointy ㅠㅠ). There aren’t many reviews for alar rim lowering, and there are so many bad things said about side effects, like the nose becoming bulbous, becoming even more pointy with a round swollen-looking nose tip, asymmetry, and so on, so I really agonized over it countless times. Since my preference is a natural look, I also went for consultations at two other clinics. One was recommended by an acquaintance, quoted 12 million won for revision, and said to redo everything completely with autologous costal cartilage and lower the alar rim. I debated a lot about whether to redo everything this time, but for some reason.. I ended up not doing it. The other clinic recommended only lowering the alar rim but discouraged surgery, asking whether I really needed to do it. Director Ryu also said it would be too wasteful to redo everything and asked how I felt about only lowering the alar rim. I really don’t know why, but Director Ryu’s nose line matched the look I wanted, so I paid in full that day and had surgery that weekend. My nasal tip was originally a bit slim, and I felt that kind of slim nose made my impression look strong. On the first day it looked like a round swollen nose, so I was a little distressed wondering, “Did it really become bulbous?” But thinking about swelling, I stopped thinking about it, took my medication well, applied compresses, drank pumpkin juice like water, and now even the outer stitches on my nose have been removed and I’m at one week. Nose surgery itself can’t perfectly sculpt and create a nose, and my own nose was originally slightly asymmetric, so from the front I’m a little disappointed rather than 100% satisfied? (I just want perfect symmetry, and honestly I know that’s asking for a lot, but what can I do when that’s how I feel.) First, my nostrils went down a lot from that ^^ eye-smile shape and became rounder. When you read alar rim lowering reviews, they say the nose gets blunt, and that is really true. But when you think about it, the surgery itself fixes ear cartilage onto the upper part of the nostril, so it seems only logical that it gets somewhat thicker. So if your nose is already a bit plump, I would not recommend alar rim lowering, and if you don’t have much flesh on your nasal ala, I strongly recommend it. Even when I look in the mirror or take photos, my overall impression definitely looks softer ㅠㅠ This is what I wanted, and it came out as I imagined, so I feel like I’ll get a boyfriend soon and I’m kind of excited. And I really like the side profile, 99 points? Anyway, this was a surgery I spent years thinking about, spending time and money on, and I’m happy it went well. I think mine was a nose that suited alar rim lowering, and I really urge people with plump noses to absolutely, absolutely not do it..
