Secondary Lateral Canthoplasty and Lower Canthoplasty at a Plastic Surgery Clinic

It’s day 6 since I had revision lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty at a plastic surgery clinic! I had lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty about 10 years ago, but maybe because so much time had passed, it felt like the outer corners of my eyes had gone back up. While looking into revision surgery, I heard that this clinic performs lateral and lower canthoplasty so it won’t reattach or lift back up, so I had a consultation and booked the surgery right there! I usually wanted a more open-looking eye shape, so I showed the director photos of the eye shape I wanted, and seeing how confident he was made me trust him even more! I asked how much scarring would remain, and the director told me honestly, “The scar may be somewhat visible. It fades over time. Doctors usually explain the worst-case scenario, not just the good side.” Honestly, I liked that better! If he had said there would be no scarring and I had gotten my hopes way up, then ended up with a scar... I think that would have been so stressful. Since I went into surgery expecting it to some extent, I had my first stitches removed yesterday and thought, this amount of scarring is fine, right? For now, I’m a scaredy-cat, so I did it under deep sedation. The anesthesiology director and the operating room nurses reassured me so much and put me to sleep well, so I had the surgery without feeling even 1 bit of pain. However, when they were setting the IV line, maybe the nurse was a beginner.. I felt a little anxious while she was finding the vein, and sure enough, I got a bruise ㅠㅠ Still, other nurses helped from the side, so it wasn’t that uncomfortable... I was thinking, what if the medication goes in wrong? But as soon as they said, “The medication is going in,” I was out! From the day of surgery through day 6, the pain and swelling have been okay, and the bruise is currently yellow, so it looks a bit unpleasant ㅠㅠ Conjunctival edema still remains only on the right side, so the lower lines on both sides look uneven, but they said they’ll check it when removing the second set of stitches on day 8, so I’m trying not to worry too much. I’m looking forward to the day the second stitches come out! I wonder how much prettier my eyes will look ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
