First, I had surgery more than 10 years ago with incision + ptosis correction + fat removal, and my goals were to improve the scar visible when my eyes were closed, asymmetry, the tight feeling when my eyes were closed, the slightly sausage-like look from the inner corner being too deeply set and the outer part being too high because it had been a long time since surgery, and to lower the line and improve it into a natural in-out line.
Over the past week, I visited 13 clinics in total after going around in person. I’m just listing them in the order I visited. If anyone is curious about photos of my eyes, please refer to my other post.
1. ㄱㄹㅂ / Dr. Park No consultation fee. Not much waiting. Felt like there were quite a few Chinese patients. I went there with high expectations because I saw a review where the exact same kind of case as mine had improved. After touching and looking at my eyes a few times, he said ptosis correction wasn’t necessary and that we should do incision surgery with micro-excision of the skin to improve the scar. When I showed him the photos I brought, he was very confident and said he could print them out and look at them during surgery and do it that way. The overall atmosphere of the consultation was good, but if you go here, you should be prepared to ask a lot of your own questions. He didn’t explain things in great detail. It had been a long time since I’d had a consultation, and this was the first place I visited, so I couldn’t ask much. They didn’t even really set the line for me... But once I explained all my concerns, he said it wasn’t a difficult surgery and that everything could be improved. The manager also emphasized that the doctor dislikes changing people’s impression and prefers a natural look. They said they would manage scars for 3 years with a self-developed stem cell ampoule.
2. ㅇㄹ / one-doctor clinic There is a consultation fee, but if you subscribe on YouTube and add them on KakaoTalk, the consultation is free. There was photo taking. Almost no waiting. I remember the manager being kind. They said my scar was not severe for an incision case, so scar improvement would not be very dramatic, but if I did have surgery, incision + ptosis correction would be possible, and the part where the back of the eye sits higher than the front and gives a sausage-like look could be improved. What I wanted was a natural in-out line, but they said if I wanted to lower the line and still keep an in-out line, I would need epicanthoplasty. If I didn’t do that, it would look a bit sausage-like, so they did not recommend it. It felt like their aesthetic direction didn’t match mine, so I didn’t ask in detail about the surgery method. The doctor’s consultation itself was kind. CCTV can be viewed in real time.
3. ㅂㅇㅇ / Dr. Kim No consultation fee. Since it was morning, there wasn’t much waiting. The doctor explained things clearly with drawings. He said that because of my skin texture, even if I had reoperation, the scar area likely would not improve much. He told me to think about whether my goal was line improvement/lowering or scar improvement. He said that to get rid of the sausage-like look, a double-line method would be needed, but since my line is not that high to begin with and the sausage look is not severe, he did not recommend it. If I were to have surgery, it would be incision surgery with scar skin excision. He said the surgery itself is not that difficult. He did not set a line on my eyes separately, but he explained things while checking the pre-op distance in millimeters, so the consultation itself was helpful. The doctor was kind too. AS 1 year. Real-time CCTV viewing available. But I was surprised because they said I would have to contract for reviews for 2 years.
4. ㄴㅅㅎ / Dr. GJH No consultation fee. Since it was late afternoon, there was almost no waiting. Again, they said my scar was not severe for an incision case and that the previous surgery itself was not a total failure. Planned procedure: ptosis correction, fat repositioning, incision. They set the line a few times and measured it with a ruler in millimeters, and the consultation itself was kind, but personally I had not even considered fat repositioning, so it felt burdensome. AS 3 years. CCTV can be checked. They pushed same-day booking a bit. Both the front desk and the manager were kind, but the follow-up calls checking whether there were any changes to the consultation schedule honestly came so often that it was a bit annoying.
5. ㅇㄹㅇ / Dr. Lee No consultation fee. Photo taking. No waiting. The only clinic among the 13 that mainly recommended double-line surgery. They said they would base it on a double-line method and, if necessary, excise about 1 mm of skin. Ptosis correction was not needed. They said double-line surgery improves scars better than excision, which was different from what I knew, so I had some doubts here. At other clinics, they all recommended only excision, saying I didn’t have much excess skin but there was about 3 mm. Maybe because the doctor had surgery scheduled, but he seemed to want to finish the consultation quickly and leave. AS 1 year.
6. ㅈㅇㅌ / Dr. GJH This place is well known for doing eyes and noses together. I’m not sure whether they’re especially good at eye reoperations, but I had time so I went once. No consultation fee. After the manager’s consultation, I waited about 15 minutes for the doctor. It was the only place that told me roughly how long I’d have to wait and apologized. The manager here was extremely kind, which I liked. The doctor really felt like a fatherly type. He told me he didn’t know how satisfied I would be after reoperation. In his view, my eyes were about 85 points and not bad, but my satisfaction level was only around 50, so even after reoperation it could still feel that way, and I should think carefully. He spent about 20 minutes telling me that. He was really honest and said that if I were his cousin, he would just tell me to live with it... The surgery itself is not difficult, and it would be done with incision and ptosis correction if needed. AS 1 year free; for 3 years, AS is available if I only pay the anesthesia fee. Everything here was good, but since they mainly focus on noses, I felt they might lack experience specifically with eye reoperations.
7. ㅇㅎㅅ / one-doctor clinic Consultation fee 5,000 won. No waiting. I went because they’re famous for eye reoperations. They said they would excise about 1 mm of scar tissue skin, raise the front line of the eye, and lower the back line. Since my left eye lacks lifting strength, only the left eye would need ptosis correction. Maybe because they’ve done a lot of line-lowering surgeries, they said that if I had surgery, the parts I’m worried about would definitely improve. The doctor’s consultation was very short, about 5 minutes. Other places were also mostly around 5 to 10 minutes, but I had paid a consultation fee, so that was a little disappointing. Still, I had gone there to get a sense of what surgery I would need, so it was fine.
8. ㅋㄹㅁ / one-doctor clinic I also went here because I heard many people go for eye reoperation. No consultation fee. When I explained the parts I was worried about, the doctor said if I did it my way it wouldn’t look pretty, and asked why I would want to do it that way. He said it would look better if done his way, and ended the consultation by recommending epicanthoplasty, scar excision, and ptosis correction because my left eye lacks lifting strength. Of course, as an expert he’d know better than me, but none of my opinions were accepted and it made me feel bad. It was enough to make me think the consultation time was wasted. If there had been a fee, I would have been angry. I thought maybe it’s famous because it really does look good when done that way, but it didn’t seem to fit me.
9. ㅇㄴㅋ / Dr. Lee My eyes are not extreme cases, but I went because there are many extreme-case reoperation reviews. No consultation fee. Not much waiting. The doctor was gentle and kind. He carefully set the line several times and measured the distance between my eyes in millimeters with a ruler. He said the front line of the eye should be lifted slightly and the back part lowered, but fully cutting the back part would make the scar large, and since the scar there is not severe right now, we should avoid excising that area as much as possible. Recommended procedures: epicanthoplasty, ptosis correction, incision, skin excision, partial double-line surgery on the back part, fat repositioning. AS 2 years. They said pricing is fixed, so the discount range is small.
10. ㄹㅎ / Dr. Park No consultation fee. The clinic is very clean. There were lots of people, including foreigners, and I was told to come early, but I ended up waiting over an hour because the doctor was in surgery. He said incision, ptosis correction, skin excision, and epicanthoplasty would be needed to get the line I wanted and make it look good. The moment he saw me, he asked if I usually sleep with my eyes open. I do sleep with my eyes properly closed... Because of that question, I became worried and asked whether, since I have protruding eyes, ptosis correction plus skin excision could cause incomplete eyelid closure. He said incomplete closure caused by ptosis correction, not by skin excision, would be okay. I don’t know why. There is a separate waiting area besides the lobby, but I only remember the waiting room chairs being very uncomfortable.
11. ㅍㄹㅇㅂ / both doctors I also went here because I saw the name a lot while researching. There are two doctors, and the review photos all looked similar, so I just chose one at random and went. Consultation fee: 10,000 won per person. At first I consulted with Dr. ㅇㅈㅇ, and he seemed to be the type who clearly says no when something can’t be done. My eyes are a little asymmetrical, and even though he seems to be extremely particular about symmetry, he said he couldn’t tell that my eyes were asymmetrical. He was so blunt that I was a bit taken aback. It’s not severe, but it definitely looks asymmetrical to anyone... I felt like he wasn’t really my style. The surgery would be incision, epicanthoplasty, and ptosis correction. I asked if I could also consult with the other doctor since I was already there, and after waiting a bit I also saw Dr. ㅇㅈㅎ. The surgical method was the same, but I liked this doctor’s consultation kindness more. It felt like he would reflect my opinions more during surgery.
12. ㅇㅇㅂ / one-doctor clinic I found out about it while looking around and booked the same day to go. Consultation fee 10,000 won. No waiting. When I first went in, I was honestly a bit surprised because the size and facilities of the clinic felt worse than even a neighborhood internal medicine clinic. It wasn’t a consultation room; the manager registered me at the front desk, gave me a brief consultation right there, and then passed me on to the doctor. The doctor speaks a bit informally and mixes in English, so people who dislike that may feel uncomfortable. They said incision surgery with about 1 mm of scar skin excision, and that ptosis correction did not seem necessary. During the consultation, the doctor searched for and showed me photos of improved cases. At other places, it was usually the manager who showed them during consultation, so it was interesting that the doctor showed them himself. I wondered if that meant he was that confident. The review photos he showed did seem to show good scar improvement and line lowering. AS 1 year. Of all the places I consulted, this was the only one that said the surgery would be done only under local anesthesia... I also asked about sedation, but they said they do that maybe once a year at most, and that local anesthesia gives better surgical results.
13. ㅇㅇㅋㅌ / one-doctor clinic I had time and it was famous for eye reoperation, so I booked same-day and went. No consultation fee. Photo taking. The line they set for me was the prettiest among the clinics I consulted, but in my opinion it was a bit thick. They honestly said the parts I wanted improved, the scar and sausage-like look, would not improve much. Ptosis correction, incision. They said the front part of the eye wasn’t that low either, and lowering the back part would be awkward, so we should improve the middle part instead. I didn’t want ptosis correction, so I asked if it was absolutely necessary. They said it wasn’t strictly necessary, but doing it would make the line prettier, and if I didn’t do it, it would just be a degree of line improvement, so it felt like it was optional. CCTV can be checked.
As for price, roughly based on the final amount including things like reviews and same-day booking: ㅈㅇㅌ < ㅇㅇㅂ < ㅇㄹㅇ < ㅇㄹ < ㄴㅅㅎ < ㅋㄹㅁ < ㅂㅇㅇ = ㅇㅎㅅ < ㅍㄹㅇㅂ < ㄱㄹㅂ < ㅇㄴㅋ < ㅇㅇㅋㅌ < ㄹㅎ
While going around for consultations, I put down deposits at two places, then canceled them after checking reviews and various other things, and in the end I had surgery a few days ago at another place on the list. I’m not saying where I had surgery because I don’t want to look like a broker. I wrote these review notes in advance while going around before surgery, so I hope you understand that I didn’t intend to recommend any particular clinic. Everyone, please be careful when putting down deposits. I even had to pay a penalty when canceling. What a waste of money ㅠ These reviews are just what I personally felt, and when you go for consultations yourself, you may feel differently, so please take them only as a reference!! I had been worrying about it for years and finally had surgery, and I’m posting this in case there are others with the same worries as me, hoping it might help.
