First of all, I have a nose with wide-spread, large nostrils. Nostril base reduction was my main goal, but I was willing to consider other improvements with a no-implant approach if needed, so I had consultations for the entire nose.
1. ㅇㅂㅅ It was my first consultation, so I went in feeling nervous. The wait wasn’t too bad, and it went in the order of consultant - director - consultant. I had a CT scan, put on a headband, had facial photos taken, and then had the consultation. First, the consultant looked at my nose and explained the issues, and then it was the director’s turn. Maybe because the director had just finished surgery, but they felt a little, slightly? sensitive. When I said something, I also felt like I was being subtly scolded. First of all, since my nose is low and short, they said that even with a no-implant approach, there wouldn’t be much effect, and if my only complex was my nostril base, they recommended doing only nostril base reduction.
2. ㅇㅂㄹ This was a clinic I had high expectations for, and it also went in the order of consultant - director - consultant. The consultant was really friendly and felt like a close older sister. I had a CT scan, they explained the issues with my nose, and then I moved on to the director’s consultation. Here, the director was really professional, explained things very well, and analyzed my face. They said a no-implant approach was possible, but there wouldn’t be a dramatic effect, and if my complex was my nostril base, then no matter whether I had full-nose surgery or whatever else, nostril base reduction would definitely be included for my nose, so I could try just nostril base reduction first and decide later. It felt like they avoided excessive surgery, and among the places I consulted, this director felt the most trustworthy.
3. ㄷㅇㅇ This place is also pretty famous, so I had quite high expectations, but it was the most disappointing place. They weren’t unfriendly, but it felt like they pursued a pretty nose rather than a nose that suited me? And while they weren’t forcing it, they talked in a way like, if my nose becomes higher, the cheek area could look more hollow, so they would fill it with filler. And after this consultation I had the biggest mental breakdown. Like the other places, they said a no-implant approach was possible but the effect would be very minimal, but then they said that if I only did nostril base reduction, I would definitely regret it and my nose would look even more bulky. I had been leaning somewhat toward only nostril base reduction, but after hearing this I seriously had a mental breakdown.. Also, neither the director nor the consultant was unfriendly, but it felt like they only said exactly what they had to say and wanted to finish the consultation quickly? So I thought that whatever I decided, I didn’t want to have surgery here. Also, after the initial consultation with the consultant, the wait for the director was longest here.
4. ㅎㅇㅂ The last clinic..! After having a mental breakdown at the third clinic, I came to this consultation thinking that if I got another different diagnosis here too, I really wouldn’t be able to decide. I’m not sure if they normally don’t take CT scans, but here they said taking too many CT scans in a short period isn’t good, and they take one if needed, but for now they wouldn’t? I think that’s what they said. They asked if there had been any unusual findings on CT at the other clinics. Since this was the last clinic, the consultant asked whether I had consulted at other clinics and whether I had made a decision. I said I still hadn’t decided. I talked about my complex, they said they would tell the director, and after waiting a bit, the director came right away. The director said that aside from my complex about my nostril base, I didn’t have major desires for my nose and didn’t want a dramatic change, so full-nose surgery would be too much, and because my needs weren’t very strong, there was actually a high chance I wouldn’t like it. They said that if I was worried that doing only nostril base reduction would look unnatural and make my nose look blunt, then combining nostril base reduction with nasal tip cartilage suturing + bulbous nose correction could give me a natural effect. In that moment, it felt like I had found the answer to the things I had been worrying about..!
So in the end, finally!! Before getting on the bus at the terminal, I called the last clinic and put down a deposit!! Haha I wanted surgery as soon as possible, so I booked it right away for this week haha. Going around for consultations was way more intense than I expected, and it was physically draining and hard tooㅠㅠ Still, I’m glad I found the answer at the last clinic. If even at the last clinic the director had said something completely different and I got confused, I briefly thought maybe I should just not do it…ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Anyway, I don’t think a clinic being famous means it will suit me, and for me, I think it’s important to go in person, get a consultation, and choose a place I trust!!
