Before <before surgery> After <after surgery> ★Short nose (nasal tip extension), deviated nose, osteotomy, deviated septum, rhinitis, hump reduction
Reason for surgery (main): My right nostril was always blocked, and I wanted to improve my habit of breathing through my mouth
Reason for surgery (secondary): Improve my deviated nose, and because my nose was short and upturned, improve the issue where the inside of my nostrils was easily visible to others
Surgical result: I am currently 1 month post-op, and the main reason for surgery, improvement of rhinitis, has gone well. I can breathe extremely well. Still, my right nostril feels like I inhale and exhale with about 60% of the strength compared with the left. Before surgery it was about 0-30%, and even if I used a medication like Otrivin, it would improve to about 70% for around 5 minutes and then quickly get worse again, so I am extremely satisfied now.
As for the secondary reasons: the deviated nose improved (if you look closely at the position of the philtrum, you can tell it improved), the visibility of the nostrils from the short, upturned nose improved, and although it does not show well in photos, there was a slightly sunken area on the nasal bridge, and they straightened that area with cartilage. As a secondary effect, because the nasal tip extension reduced the tension on the philtrum, my upper lip came down, so my cobblestone chin improved slightly.
The reason for the osteotomy was that my nose was wide from side to side compared with my long, narrow face, and to make up for the lack of post-op impact caused by surgery without implants
Material: Septal cartilage only. Ear cartilage had been planned, but they said the septal cartilage alone was enough, so they did not use it
Difficulties after surgery: It is hard to wash as cleanly as before surgery, so I developed skin trouble, and even when there is a foreign-body sensation inside the nose, it is not easy to remove anything. Also, I can no longer put my finger inside my nose, and even if blackheads form, I cannot squeeze them.
The advantage and disadvantage of no implants: It is so natural that until I looked at the before-and-after photos, I could tell it had definitely improved, but it was hard to check what changed and by how much. Even I myself could tell it had clearly changed, but it was hard to explain just by looking in the mirror where, how, and how much it changed, so from other people's perspective, I think they would be even less likely to know I had plastic surgery. If you want to become a dramatically completely different person, I do not recommend no-implant surgery, but if you want a naturally better impression, I think no implants can also be a good choice.
Why I chose no implants: From the beginning, I got it with the thought of slightly touching things up while getting rhinitis and septal surgery anyway, so I wanted it not to look obviously done, and I did not want to take on the risk of implant side effects. For no-implant surgery, they said that if inflammation does not occur within 3 weeks after surgery, there is no need to worry about inflammation or side effects for the rest of your life after that, so I was able to receive it with peace of mind.
