Hello I kept thinking I should leave a review, but as expected, once I actually had everything removed, writing a post hasn’t been easy.
First, I had surgery with silicone + ear cartilage at the nasal tip + an ear cartilage support strut, and had everything removed after more than 10 years.
I didn’t have any major side effects, but the operated nose was more upturned than my original nose, and ever since I started wearing masks, heat often rose to my face, and my nasal tip felt like it was gradually clumping and lifting. I thought it was contracture...
When I went around for hospital consultations, 3 places said it was not contracture, and only 1 place said it was contracture. 2 places talked about complete removal, and 1 place said I should only redo the nasal tip with ear cartilage, like a revision surgery.
I had surgery in early March at a place that said it was not contracture and that complete removal was possible, and I’m currently very satisfied.
They said the thick parts of the silicone were about 4 mm to 5 mm, and that the adhesion of the ear cartilage at the nasal tip was severe.
I’ll share my review------------------------------------ <Immediately after surgery> First, the nasal tip, which had been the biggest problem, came down immediately after surgery!!!!! From the second day, my nose started swelling a lot, really like it was going to burst... After the swelling went down a bit, I had blue bruising on my eyelids and yellow bruising on my cheeks.
<After removing the splint> It was really lowered by exactly as much as the silicone had been removed, and the swelling hadn’t gone down much, but it was extremely pressed down, so the nasal bridge looked rectangular and so ugly that I even thought about getting filler after it healed.... The director told me that recovering well was the most important thing for now ㅠㅠㅠ I was so worried, wondering whether this pressed-down part would really recover and whether I would have to live like this forever...
<Week 3> I think a mild contraction phase started around week 3 for me. Around week 3, I felt a pulling sensation, and the contraction phase continued until the 2-month mark. It wasn’t to the extent that the nose shape was dramatically changing, more like the skin was slightly tight? Between week 3 and 2 months, when the contraction phase came, the skin was attached to the nasal bridge bone and kept pulling tightly, so it looked even lower. I think this was when it looked the lowest.
<2 Months> After completing 2 months, around the time I was moving into the 3rd month, the swelling around the pressed-down nasal bridge gradually started going down. The pressed appearance became a bit less noticeable.
<Almost 3 Months~Now> By the time I was approaching the full 3 months, should I say the pressed area of the nasal bridge gradually started coming back up? During the contraction phase, as the swelling went down, it looked really extremely low, but still, as the pressed nasal bridge gradually came back up, it actually looks a bit better now, at least somewhat... The square-like pressed appearance has also improved a lot. It still looks pressed, but it’s much better than in the beginning!!! I’m holding out without thinking about filler..

They said residual swelling lasts from 6 months to 1 year, so I’m living while thinking it will get better. In the beginning, I thought the nasal tip was also somewhat similar to when I had surgery, but it seems to be gradually becoming more similar to my original nose. Maybe people who liked their operated nose more than their original nose are the ones who say it became better than their original nose after removal. I want it to become the same as my original nose, so I’m hoping it becomes a bit more similar to my original nose lol.
Currently, I’m very satisfied with the complete removal. My nose really feels so light too ㅠㅠ Even if my clothes lightly brush my nose while getting dressed, it doesn’t hurt at all, and the area around the nasal bridge and the nasal alae are soft and squishy, so I really like itㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
The nasal alae are soft, and the nasal tip does move if I touch it with my hand, but I still don’t even dare try making a pig noseㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ There’s no columellar retraction, and I’m so glad it feels like I had a really safe complete removal..
The hospital is one of the 4 hospitals famous for removal here, the one named after the director, and I will not take hospital inquiries.
If others who had removal share their symptoms in public comments, I think it would help people who are considering removal or who are curious about symptoms after removal!
