Liposuction Reviews

Revision liposuction of upper abdomen + back

A very long time ago, I had liposuction on my entire upper body, but despite that, the fat in my upper abdomen didn’t go away, so when I gained weight my upper abdomen got thick, and my back (bra line + back flanks) also wasn’t reduced enough, so when my weight increased, the fat folded over. That’s why I ended up getting revision surgery.

The director also said there was enough fat to remove and that revision surgery was needed, so I went ahead with it. I also consulted about the flanks, but they said there was nothing more to remove there, so we decided to do the upper abdomen and back.

I prefer a style where, rather than leaving fat behind, they remove it thoroughly so almost no fat remains, so I told them to remove everything as completely as possible, to the point where there would be nothing more to take out. During the design on the day of surgery and also during the consultation, they said that right now the right side of my back had more fat remaining than the left, so it folded more thickly.

For reference, 10 days earlier I had liposuction on my arms, 360 degrees of the upper arms + forearms, so that day I had the stitches removed from my arms (the surgery marks are visible).

The surgery was done under semi-sedation, so I woke up a few times in the middle, but if I seemed to be in too much pain, they put me back to sleep, and as long as I didn’t move too much during surgery, they kept me sedated as much as possible. They wake you up after putting in the fluid, and that part was actually more painful. A total of about 1400 was removed from the upper abdomen and whole back, but that volume includes some fluid.

I’ve currently had 2 aftercare sessions, and it’s been almost a month. The right bra line feels thicker, and the surgical mark on the right seems to have been incised in a more visible area, so it’s different from the left. The after photo was taken today, and as expected, the right bra line is thicker and protrudes, with a difference from the left.

After surgery, the pain and bruising weren’t very severe. During my first surgery, I had blood bruising, so the bruises lasted very long and it hurt a lot, but this time there wasn’t much bruising, which was so fascinating. The pain felt similar to muscle soreness the day after an intense workout, but it was fine without needing to take separate painkillers.

My arms also have a big difference between left and right, and even after surgery, the front bulge and back bulge are still the same, so I was really worried and had a consultation too. They told me it could be due to swelling, and because it’s revision surgery, the swelling goes down more slowly, so for now I decided to wait. I haven’t had a separate progress consultation for the bra line after surgery, but I think I can ask at my next progress check.

There still isn’t a dramatic line change, and the tissue is hard, so I think I’ll only know after more time passes, but as expected, revision surgery is more about cleaning up remaining fat than dramatic change. (Both the before and after photos were taken after revision arm liposuction, and the arms and upper abdomen + back were operated on 10 days apart.) On the upper abdomen, the right side has a lot of hardened lumpiness gathered together.

Since it was a revision of the entire upper body and I thought I absolutely couldn’t fail again, I chose a first-generation liposuction hospital. They definitely paid a lot of attention, and they were very considerate of the anxiety of a patient who is even more worried because it’s revision surgery, so I was able to trust them and proceed. The consultant who answers even late-night KakaoTalk messages is also humane and really nice, and when I received aftercare (Endermologie) and expressed my anxiety to the consultant about asymmetry after surgery, I was grateful to see the director hear about it and try to reduce my anxiety.

However, I’m worried that both my upper arms and forearms are asymmetric, the bra line is also asymmetric, and the line I want hasn’t been completed yet. But since there is still swelling and hardness, they told me to wait longer, so I’m waiting. They said that if there is no change and it’s still like this at the 3-month mark, they will do a retouch, and told me not to stress and just live normally, so I decided to have my thigh revision surgery done by the same director. From the standpoint of someone whose first surgery failed, I think the hospital’s attitude of taking responsibility until the end is also important for liposuction.

With the first surgery, the volume change is clear on the day of surgery, but with revision surgery, the recovery speed is definitely different. Also, before surgery I worried a lot about scars, and although the scar on the right bra line is a bit large, the arm scars are not big. I think this has a lot to do with skin characteristics, so individual differences will be large. Since the scars are only at the one-month mark, I think I need to wait longer before judging.

This review is for a surgery review pursuing a glamorous result.
