I went to a total of 4 places.
The first two gave me the diagnosis that I only needed cheekbone reduction + square jaw reduction + cortical osteotomy.
The last two said my chin was short and my midface was long, so they diagnosed that my chin should be lengthened and brought forward a bit.
In the end, I think the latter diagnosis was right, and among the last two places, one felt too much like a factory, plus the consultant took a day or two to reply, so I just decided on Braun.
The consultation was simple and clean.
Rather than creating the exact impression the patient wants, it felt like the style was, "trust me and follow my lead." Since the diagnosis is made by the doctor, not me as the patient, I accepted it and booked the date right away.
On the day of surgery, I think the doctor was about 30 minutes late, and before surgery we had another consultation. He asked whether I wanted a lot cut off or a natural result.
When I said I wanted it natural, he said, "Okay, then let's leave only 2 cm of the square jaw length below the ear," and drew lines on the photo to show how much he would cut.
A little later, a staff member gave me a consent form and asked me to sign it, saying there was no time, so I should sign first and they would give me the terms later, so I could read them slowly.
But they never gave them to me later. I still don't know what I signed.
Anyway, the surgery went well, and I spent the recovery time safely without any particularly painful or uncomfortable areas.
About a year later, one side of my square jaw seemed less cut, both to the touch and visually, so I got a CT scan.
Sure enough, one side was still large. The doctor said that human asymmetry is largely unavoidable, that if you worry about every little thing you cannot live long, and that even if I had revision surgery, I probably would not be satisfied with the result. So I'm just living without paying attention to it.
The price was expensive, but I'm fairly satisfied. Now when I look at old photos, they actually feel awkward, to the point where I think, huh, did I really look like this?
