2 years after LASEK..

I had surgery in January 2021, and since I had plenty of corneal thickness, I decided on LASEK.

They said LASIK or SMILE LASIK are more convenient, but can have some side effects ㅜㅜ So I thought, what a relief,

but it was absolute hell.

Day 1: It was more bearable than I expected, so I was like, lol, everyone saying it hurts is being dramatic, and somehow I ate fine and spent the day with blurry vision. Day 2: I had to go to the hospital to put in some kind of protective eye drops? So I pulled my hat down low and went around avoiding sunlight as much as possible. My eyes stung more than on day 1. I had to walk around squinting.

And then.

The night going from day 2 to day 3 was the most painful. You know how the optic nerve is behind the eyeball? It really felt like everything was drying up and shriveling from there, and even when I did nothing, tears just streamed down. I seriously regretted why I had this surgery just to gain what kind of glory. Tears came out regardless of my will, and because it hurt so much, it really turned into crying.. The hospital gave me emergency medication to put in, but they said the effect would take a bit longer to show, so I gritted my teeth and endured it.

Day 3: I became a vampire. I had to live only in darkness. My eyeballs still felt like they were going to crumble. They told me not to go near water or humid places, but I felt like I would die if I didn’t. Meanwhile I got hungry, ordered pho, and used the steam rising from the noodles as steam therapy.

It got a bit better.

On day 3, darkness is absolutely the default.

Day 4: Suddenly, it got insanely better. The glare had been so bad that even with sunglasses it was painful, but I became able to look at fluorescent light with sunglasses on. The pain dropped sharply. I got so excited then that I ate LA galbi.

Day 5: Right back to 16 hours on my phone, go go. From this point, recovery was complete.

And as for vision changes, it has stayed from -4 to 1.0.

Thank you, doctor. I was going to write the hospital name, but the hospital I went to doesn’t show up. Please leave a comment.
