I visited 7 clinics and in the end it looks like I’ll get my eyes and nose done at a plastic surgery clinic run by two directors (the surgery will be after mid-December). -> Please note that this post is quite long
First, a description of my condition Eyes: I wore double-eyelid tape for about a year, so there was a little skin laxity. My eyelids had a slight double-eyelid line from the tape line. Nose: Slightly low and round, with a bulky bulbous-tip look. In my own view, my nose looked very flattened. (After going to consultations, I was told that the bridge itself is not especially low, but because the starting point of the bridge is low, the nose tends to look small and short, and that the width is not from the alar base but because the nasal tip cartilage is flattened, making the nose look wide.) -> I have eye and nose photos in my post, so if you are curious, you can check them out
1. Director ㅇㅇㅁ at ㅂㅇㅂ A friend I know introduced me, so I went for a consultation together. It was my first time consulting for plastic surgery, so I was nervous. First they took photos and a CT scan, then I waited. I consulted with the manager first, then met the director. After looking at my eyes, the director said my eye-opening strength was good, so separate ptosis correction probably would not be needed. They suggested a partial incision, removing some fat from the eyes, and creating an in-out line. For the nose, they said my skin was thick, so even if I reduced the alar base, it would not become dramatically slimmer, but if I was worried about it, they still recommended doing it together. Eyes - partial incision, around 1.0 million KRW Nose - silicone for the bridge, septal cartilage and ear cartilage for the tip, bulbous-tip correction, nasolabial angle adjustment, alar reduction -> if donated rib cartilage is used, materials cost extra, in the high 3 million KRW range Since I knew someone there, the price was relatively cheaper than elsewhere.
2. ㅇㅇㅂ - eye director I don’t remember, nose - probably director ㅊㅈㅇ For clinics 2 through 4, I went with a friend. I booked consultations with ㅂㅂㅌ everywhere, so in most places I was able to consult without waiting. As soon as I arrived, they took CT and facial photos, then I waited and consulted with the manager. We talked about why I decided on surgery, what kind of line I wanted, and so on, then waited. When I met the director, they explained the expected changes by drawing on a printed copy of my face photo. The director who consulted on my nose was very kind and, when I said I did not really know the steps of nose surgery, they even put up a PPT and explained the process in detail. They also explained the line I wanted and what suited my face, which I really liked. But the director who consulted on my eyes only marked the line I wanted a few times and then kind of casually said, hmm, this should work. It felt a bit rushed, and it also was not the line I wanted... After consulting with the directors, I talked with the manager again. They said there were extra discounts if I booked on the same day after doing the review-condition stuff and other things, but since I planned to do my eyes and nose together and the eye consultation was not great, I skipped it and just half-listened. Eyes - if no review post, high 2 million KRW range for incision; if posting a review, 2.0 million KRW. The price was the same for incision and partial incision. Nose - silicone for the bridge, columella, donated rib cartilage, alar reduction; if no review, 6.6 million KRW, if review posted, 4.8 million KRW. The price seemed the same as for functional rib or autologous rib cartilage.
3. Director ㄱㅇㅎ at ㅂㄹㅇ As soon as I arrived, they took a CT scan, then after waiting I went down to the consultation room. I remember they took the CT very thoroughly. After looking at the images, they were not satisfied and took them again. I consulted with the manager and then met the director, who had a very gentle impression. The director precisely marked the line I wanted and also recommended inner corner and upper corner canthoplasty. I had not originally planned on canthoplasty, so I was reacting like, huh... but when they showed me what it would look like, I really liked it, and from then on I started thinking I might need canthoplasty too. They then held my eyebrows and asked me to open my eyes, and said I seemed to use my forehead a bit when opening them, so they also recommended ptosis correction. The nose consultation was similar to other places, and they said they would not use autologous rib cartilage; if rib cartilage was used here, they only use donated rib cartilage. Eyes - incision, ptosis correction, inner and upper corner canthoplasty, 3.0 million KRW, but with a review post and one more condition, the price went down to 2.1 million KRW. I do not remember what that one extra condition was. Nose - silicone for the bridge, donated rib cartilage for the tip, nasal bone contouring, alar reduction, 5.1 million KRW; with a review discount, 4.14 million KRW. They said aftercare was available for 2 years, and the blood test fee was 100,000 KRW extra. I was also quite satisfied here, but I wanted to avoid factory-style clinics as much as possible, so I decided not to have surgery here.
4. ㅇㅇㄷ - I do not remember the director who did both eyes and nose Honestly, as soon as I got there, my friend and I thought we should just skip it. Using an entire building made me think, huh, factory-style...? And when I looked at the eyes of the people at the front desk, my friend and I both said, should we just run away? ... Even though they may not have had work done there. After the CT and consultation with the manager, they kept saying things like this place is really good, so all I could respond with was, uh-huh... During the consultation with the director, I liked the eyes, but when they showed how the nose CT would be raised, it was way too high and looked Pinocchio-like, so my friend and I both burst out laughing. The biggest reason I ruled them out was that they said if I booked on the same day, they would discount more than 3 million KRW even for the nose alone, which really killed my trust. For eyes, incision went from 3.3 million KRW down to 1.98 million KRW, and the nose also dropped from 7.15 million KRW to 3.8 million KRW. I also asked about postoperative care, and they said they give you 5% of the payment amount as points, which you can use there for sebum care and other treatments. But then they said only half could be paid with points and the rest had to be paid normally, and I just said okay and left.
5. ㅍㄴㅅ This was the first place where they even took an X-ray. I knew they used a lot of autologous rib cartilage, so I thought they were probably taking it because of that. After consulting with the manager and then meeting the director, this was the first clinic where they edited my photo in Photoshop and showed me visually what the result would look like. The director gave a fairly detailed consultation, and this person also recommended doing inner corner and upper corner canthoplasty together for me. They recommended autologous rib cartilage quite a lot, but when I said I did not really want to use autologous rib cartilage, they said donated rib cartilage was also possible. Eyes - incision, inner and upper corner canthoplasty, around 3.0 million KRW. Nose - bulbous-tip correction, silicone for the bridge, donated rib cartilage, around 7.0 million KRW. If I did the eyes and nose together and posted a review, the total was around the high 6 million KRW range.
6. ㅅㄹ - Director ㅂㅇㄱ (I decided I would do it here for now) I went after being introduced by an acquaintance who knows the doctor. They did not take a CT; I went straight into consultation. I asked everything I was curious about and told them the line I wanted and so on. They also recommended that if I wanted to create a double-eyelid line in an in-out style, the Mongolian fold in front would become an issue, so an inner corner canthoplasty would be recommended. They said that would make the eyes look more open and the double-eyelid line would show better. For now, I decided to do it here because I felt the doctor was someone I could trust. There were not many reviews, so I was pretty uneasy, but there were still some people around me who had gotten it done here. Also, by then I was too tired to keep looking into everything, and the price was quite appealing, so I decided on this place.
7. ㄴㄴ - Director ㄱㅇㅎ I went there, had a CT scan, and consulted with the manager. Unusually, the manager lightly shaped the double-eyelid line and nose shape. It was my first time having a manager set the line during consultations, so it was a fresh experience. The manager was quite kind during the consultation, which I liked. Then, while looking at my CT, they said my airway was narrow, so if I had nose surgery, I could combine it with rhinitis surgery and get insurance reimbursement. (I did not have rhinitis symptoms, so this was the first time I learned that my nose was the kind that could develop rhinitis.) I met the director after a bit of waiting, and they explained things in quite a lot of detail and quickly adjusted everything to the line I wanted, which I liked. But because I had been using double-eyelid tape and the line had been formed that way, they looked at that line and said it seemed like I would develop a double eyelid soon, so it might be possible to do it with a buried suture method. When I asked about canthoplasty, they said my eyes did not really need it. For the nose too, they said my nose was small, so septal cartilage and ear cartilage alone might not be enough, and that I might need donated rib cartilage or autologous rib cartilage. When I asked how I should decide, they said it was not that small, so prepare donated rib cartilage for now and do the surgery, then when they open it and see that the septal cartilage is smaller than expected, use donated rib cartilage. They also said the chances of not needing donated rib cartilage were higher. After talking with the director, I spoke with the manager, then also met the ENT doctor and consulted about rhinitis surgery (the consultation fee on the weekend was 11,000 KRW), and that was it. -> There was a bit of waiting until I met the ENT doctor. For eyes, buried sutures would have been around 320,000 KRW, but I wanted incision instead, so I asked about that, and incision was around 1.0 million KRW. For the nose, without rhinitis surgery it was in the mid-4 million KRW range, but with rhinitis surgery it came to around 3.0 million KRW.
I really struggled choosing between 6 and 7. The prices were similar, and I thought it might be nice to combine it with rhinitis surgery while I was at it, so I was leaning toward ㄴㄴ. But ㄴㄴ, like ㅇㅇㄷ, was also too big and felt factory-like, so I decided not to go there. And the doctor I met at 6 was someone whose identity felt more reliable to me, so I decided to go with the trustworthy option of 6. For people who do not mind whether it feels factory-style or not and just want the surgery done well, I think ㄴㄴ is not a bad choice.
