I used to think a hooked nose was a symbol of masculinity, but when I saw men on TV with smooth, straight-to-slightly-curved nasal bridges, every time I looked in the mirror, I started thinking, wouldn’t it look okay if I just shaved down the hump?
So I searched online, narrowed it down to a few places, and decided to go for consultations. At first, I was worried there would only be women there, so I felt embarrassed and even thought about just choosing a place online and getting surgery, but people in the community said it was fine to go in for consultations lol When I went, there were actually a lot of other men besides me.. So I waited and had my consultations feeling a little less awkward.
For reference, during the consultation I said that I wanted my nose to look high but still natural.
The nose surgery was over faster than I had expected. If someone asks me what the hardest part after surgery was, I can definitely say it was the nasal packing blocking my nose. It was hard to breathe, and because I had to keep breathing through my mouth, my throat got dry so I kept coughing and clearing my throat, and since I drank water constantly, I had to go to the bathroom at dawn and couldn’t sleep properly at night.
At first, it was uncomfortable because I had to be careful when blowing my nose and couldn’t blow it freely.. Now, at least when I wash my face, it’s not as completely refreshing as before.. but I think I can blow it fairly comfortably.
Since my nose now anchors the center of my face, my whole face seems more balanced overall, and I feel like I’ve gained confidence too.
