I am a man in my 30s. Five years ago, I had nose surgery at Dㅇㅇ in Yeoksam-dong.
I had rhinoplasty with 4-5 mm silicone on the nasal bridge and septal cartilage,
but as time passed, the nasal tip drooped severely and it became hard to breathe.
So this time, I had revision surgery at another hospital (autologous costal cartilage + ear cartilage).
Today I went to have the cotton removed, and the director asked me, “Did you know there was a foreign material called mesh inside your nose?”
I answered, “Mesh? What is that?” and he said a material that should not be used in rhinoplasty had been put in.
He said he had considered stopping the surgery, but for my sake, he completed the operation to the end.
Then during a 1:1 consultation with the manager, I was shown photos of the material and received an explanation.
I confirmed the photo of the mesh removal, and they said my surgery photos were somewhat gruesome, so they would show them if needed.
I paid an additional cost of 1.1 million won, and since then I have been studying mesh.
When I contacted the hospital called Dㅇㅇ and said I wanted to know the surgical chart from my surgery 5 years ago,
they answered that silicone had been used in the septal cartilage,
and there was not even any mention of mesh.
After not knowing for 5 years, I have only now found out about the side effect from my first surgery.
If I had lived without getting revision surgery, couldn’t I have developed contracture or other side effects??? What about my life??
If they put in a different material without the patient’s consent, how should compensation or a lawsuit be handled in a case like this?
I don’t know much about cosmetic surgery, so I’m leaving this post. Please help!
