<Before revision surgery><Side after revision surgery><Front after revision surgery>I'm the person who recently said I had revision rhinoplasty with dermis. I was always searching for reviews, but there were so few, so I'm leaving a review for informational purposes.
1. Reason for revision surgery My original nose was low + small, so I ended my life of getting fillers and had a “functional nose” surgery to raise the nose at the same time as rhinitis surgery. I had silicone (3 mm) on the nasal bridge + ear cartilage at the nasal tip + columella(?) and it seemed to come out the way I wanted. When the splint first came off, I thought, isn't the nasal tip too Pinocchio-like? But since the thing people said most was “the nasal tip comes down,” I waited, thinking it would. But it didn't come down as much as expected, and for my nose (for a nose on my face), it was too pointy and thin, so I thought it didn't suit me. On top of that, a groove-like indentation formed between the nasal tip and nasal bridge, making the nose look even stranger (of course, other people don't know unless they look closely). And I felt it was showing through because my skin was too thin. It bothered me more and more, so 2 years after nose surgery, I decided on revision surgery.
2. Revision surgery review Silicone removal + donated dermis (Megaderm) + ear cartilage columellar strut at the nasal tip I had it done like this. Actually, I said I wanted to remove everything from the nasal tip too and just return to my original nose, but they said that would be difficult.
Method: They said if everything at the nasal tip were removed, it might contract later and become like a contracted nose, so they would leave it as is. Instead, they would shave the ear cartilage very thin, make a rounded nose in an umbrella shape, keep the strut as is, make the nasal tip as low and round as possible, and cover the whole thing once with donated dermis to compensate for the thin skin. However, because the absorption rate is difficult to estimate due to the nature of dermis, they said they would overcorrect and insert 4 mm. I submitted past photos and requested a straight nose.
After 10 days, Unlike with silicone, it feels like there is no foreign body sensation or pressure in my nose. Maybe because it was revision surgery and replacement of the nasal bridge, I didn't have nasal packing either, and the splint was removed at just the right time, so it was less difficult than my first surgery. Because of the overcorrection, the nose was extremely, extremely high, so I was shocked, but honestly, considering swelling and absorption, I thought it wouldn't be bad. But it already seems like almost all the swelling is gone now (about 15% left?). I don't know whether it's absorption or swelling. The nose shape is definitely straight, and they made the area connecting the nasal tip and nasal bridge line very thick (probably to compensate for thin skin).
In conclusion, I really feel glad I had the revision surgery. I had it done at the original hospital, so it was treated like aftercare, and it only cost about a million won.
