Usually, when the consultation goes in the order of consultant-director-consultant, you spend a lot of time during the first consultation with the consultant discussing the details of what you’re going to do, then have a short consultation with the director who has been briefed on that, and then spend a long time again with the consultant discussing costs. That was the usual format, but here, the consultant instead just briefly asked about the bigger points, like what surgery I wanted, why I wanted it, and what problems I felt.
