After functional + cosmetic rhinoplasty, I’m experiencing hyperventilation symptoms on one sideㅠㅠ If anyone has similar symptoms, please leave a commentㅠㅠ
One side feels like I’m breathing through my own nose, and the other side feels wide open from my nose to my throat, with air rushing in when I breathe. My nose feels sore and the air feels cold, so if I don’t wear a mask, it hurts and I can’t breathe.. I’m glad people wear masks these daysㅠㅠ + dryness inside the nose + no runny nose + air hits my throat directly and hurts + postnasal drip + tinnitus + ear fullness + headache + fatigue have appeared, so it interferes with daily lifeㅠㅠ... When I sleep, I have to cover my face with something like a blanket so it feels suffocating, but I need to keep it warm so it doesn’t sting when I breathe, and then I can sleep longer at least. Even if I sleep all day and keep sleeping, I’m tired, and on workdays I feel sick, exhausted, and dragged downㅠㅠ I apply a lot of eye ointment in order to breathe (it doesn’t last long..), and if I’m in a warm or humid place it gets better, so breathing becomes a little easier. When my nose runs because I eat something spicy or something, breathing becomes somewhat easier...

If you do functional + cosmetic rhinoplasty, please be cautious about the so-called three functional procedures these days (nasal valve, deviated septum, rhinitis), especially rhinitis surgery..
Inferior turbinate resection or reduction. It’s often called rhinitis surgery and is trendy these days.. Everyone is getting it bundled at plastic surgery clinics and ENT clinics, and of course I was one of the people tempted into doing it.. My nose only got blocked very occasionally, but I had severe rhinitis and was struggling because of runny nose, so I thought, huh? I can fix rhinitis, fix the septal deviation, and do cosmetic surgery too, and I was tempted. But if I had known earlier, I absolutely would not have done it.. Looking into it, apparently long ago they used to resect the inferior turbinate, but because there were many problems they don’t do that now, and these days they reduce it with things like laser or radiofrequency. Even reduction, if done wrong or if even a little too much is reduced, can cause empty-nose symptoms, and I saw many people suffering from it.. (My inferior turbinate before surgery: plump -> after surgery: gaunt) Symptoms appeared after the internal swelling went down after surgery, and I think the coming cold, dry winter will be even more awful... Usually hospitals say nasal obstruction will improve, allergic rhinitis will improve, but it may recur, etc., but it is not recurrence; you lose the function performed inside the nose. Inferior turbinate reduction is not something to take lightly.. The inferior turbinate has many roles, such as regulating temperature and humidity inside the nose, and they say once it is damaged it is hard to reverse.. At present there is no reconstructive method either, only limited methods like injection treatment, and it seems there are not many hospitals that do even thatㅠ If it doesn’t come back, I may have to live like this for life, but hoping it returns even a little.. Anyone who might have surgery in the future, please take this into account and think carefullyㅠ There weren’t posts about this topic in this community, so after worrying about it I tried writing this post.. Of course, there are probably many people who had this surgery and improved.. Some people said these symptoms don’t appear immediately after surgery but appear six months to a year later.. It depends on the case. Right now, I may simply have been unlucky, but I also wonder, wouldn’t it get better if I recognized it right away and tried to manage it?ㅠ It was my mistake to trust the surgeon when he seemed so confident. When I looked in detail, there were no reviews for the functional part.. The general surgery hospital reviews were......... Still, there must be people who did well.. Their appointments are completely packed... Of course, before surgery I also chose and chose carefully, but.. could I have imagined this result would come out... I only thought it would go well.. What on earth did I see and think thatㅎ It feels like I was under some kind of spell.. Now even thinking about total removal of the rhinoplasty is overwhelming..ㅎ The function has already become like this, and I don’t know whether it will returnㅠ (I keep looking into it, but it seems it almost never comes back on its ownㅠㅠ) At the hospital, well... all hospitals are the same, always when removing the splint and at follow-ups too..ㅎ.ㅎ swelling, swelling, blood crusts inside, nasal crusts, etc.. I don’t want to go anymore, but because the inside of my nose can’t regulate itself, it’s dry, the mucous membrane keeps showing blood and won’t heal.. Given the condition and what seems like some inflammation, I have no choice but to goㅠ
I had been living without much greed all this time, and a surgery I did just to become a bit prettier ruined my face.. and caused functional problems too.. I keep trying to hold onto my mental state as it slips away, but I don’t know if I can endure well until removalㅠ Just thinking about visiting removal hospitals makes me sighㅎ.ㅎ
