Before<surgery before>Before<surgery before>Before<surgery before>After<surgery after>After<surgery after>It’s already been 3 months since surgery~ Honestly, until about one month to a month and a half after surgery, I kept thinking about how many weeks post-op I was and when all the swelling would go down, but after that there wasn’t much discomfort and the major swelling was all gone, so I’ve been living without thinking about it much. My original face shape was a sunken midface + prognathic jaw. When I was young, my lower teeth protruded farther forward than my upper teeth, but with orthodontic treatment in elementary school, the dental occlusion was somehow forcibly aligned. So I had no problems chewing or speaking, but the facial shape that looked like a prognathic jaw could not be solved with orthodontics. I was obsessed with doing everything, including hairstyle, makeup, and procedures, in a way that kept attention away from my jaw, but no matter what I did I couldn’t hide it, and I got stressed every time I saw photos, so I had a consultation at an oral and maxillofacial clinic and ended up having double-jaw surgery and two facial contouring procedures (square jaw-front chin). I wanted to improve my sunken midface and prognathic-jaw face shape haha For about a month after surgery, my lip shape felt a little like a collapsed, toothless-looking mouth, so I worried that this part would stay that way, but my lips seem almost back to normal too. haha Not long ago, someone around me asked if I had maybe also done something like mouth-corner surgery while getting double-jaw surgery haha Now there are almost no restrictions on meals. I still haven’t tried very hard foods or squid, but I’m eating beef, pork, and things like that just fine. I’m also eating vegetables that need to be chewed just fine. I think I started eating kkakdugi from the second month as long as the pieces weren’t too big. During the second month, I still chewed carefully and cut things into small pieces whenever possible, but these days it feels like I can chew more comfortably. Not long ago I even ate braised pork ribs for the first time in a while. I think I can open my mouth as much as before. I barely did mouth-opening exercises after the first or second month, but now I just open my mouth wide and brush my teeth. Sometimes I get a tingling feeling at the tip of my chin for a few seconds (I heard it means sensation is coming back?), and that’s about when I remember I had surgery. The skin on my lower jaw side is still a bit dull in sensation. But it feels like sensation has returned compared with right after surgery. Still, I’m recovering a lot, so I’m not worried. At first there were many uncomfortable things after surgery, but now more than 98% of it is comfortable and improved rather than uncomfortable, so I think it’s a surgery I’m very satisfied with. Everyone, if you had the same concerns as me before surgery, I recommend it.
