It’s been 7 years since I had breast surgery. This year, I decided to completely remove the implants and had surgery before Chuseok. The surgery went well, and I’m writing this review hoping it helps anyone who wants implant removal.
-Reason I decided on implant removal surgery
Shoulder stiffness (I originally often got stiffness in my neck and shoulders and tended to feel fatigued easily, but it got worse after surgery) Sour aching sensation around the armpit area (It wasn’t throbbing pain, but an unpleasant sour-type pain happened more often as time passed) Anxiety about capsular contracture and rupture (I heard that if surgery is needed later after capsular contracture or rupture, it costs more and the recovery period is longer, which made me more distressed)
-Reason I chose the hospital
It was the first hospital I visited after only researching online, and the staff and director were kind They explained my breast condition in detail through ultrasound Detailed explanation of surgical information The fact that they operate on exactly one person on weekday mornings The fact that the anesthesiologist stays beside you throughout surgery The fact that they consider safety important The fact that it is a breast-specialized breast surgery clinic The fact that scar laser treatment is free for life
-Review of implant removal surgery
It was done under general anesthesia, and I was satisfied because both the operating room and recovery room felt clean and well managed.
I had my breast surgery through a transaxillary incision, so I wanted a transaxillary approach, but since my implants were textured type and there was a possibility of touching nerves if done through the armpit, we decided to proceed through the inframammary fold.
The tape is still on, so I don’t know how much the incision site has healed yet.
They said they would try to match my original breast inframammary fold as much as possible during surgery, but because my breasts are asymmetrical, only one side was matched and the other side is lower. Still, I’m grateful they matched even one side.
After surgery, the throbbing pain at the incision site bothered me, but the pain was less than breast augmentation surgery, and I could do all daily activities. I think pain at the surgical site when changing posture or moving my body couldn’t really be helped.
But now I can’t shower for a week and have to keep the compression bandage and band on, which is extremely frustrating...
-Current situation
Now I only have to wear the compression band, and I can shower as much as I want, so I’m really happy. I don’t remember well what my old breasts looked like, and I don’t have pre-op photos. I think there is slightly more sagging than before, but it isn’t severe, and it just feels like my own breasts. They say breast recovery originally takes from 3 to 6 months, so I’m just going to recover by eating well and sleeping well.
I was 165 cm, 48 kg, 65C, and after roughly measuring it seems like the size decreased slightly to 65B, but I’m hoping that as time passes and I recover, it might come back.
After 3 months from surgery, if I do upper-body workouts and take good care of my body, it should come back. Even if my breasts don’t come back, there’s nothing I can do
