Review of under-eye fat repositioning a little under one month after surgery. (Long post warning...

Before <before surgery> After <after surgery> After <after surgery> After <after surgery> First of all, I had unevenness under my eyes where the fat followed the tear trough. When I was in good condition or when light hit me from the front, it looked okay, but usually whenever I took photos or looked in the mirror, the fat protruding under my eyes made it look like under-eye wrinkles, and it made my impression look hollow and older, which stressed me out so much. Even when I put on makeup nicely and took photos, I was upset because the under-eye fat made me look so unattractive.

Because I was so stressed about my under-eye fat, I really wanted to get under-eye fat repositioning surgery, but for 4 years I only kept thinking, “I should do it, I should do it.” I was scared of surgery and didn’t even know where to start getting information, so time just passed. Then an older acquaintance told me she goes to a plastic surgery clinic, so I asked her about under-eye fat repositioning, got a clinic recommendation from her, and went through consultation to surgery super quickly haha. What even were those 4 years of worrying for? lol

What I heard from that acquaintance was: Under-eye fat repositioning does not improve dark circles! For me, my concern was the protruding fat rather than dark circles, so it didn’t really apply to me, but she said clinics advertise under-eye fat repositioning as if it improves dark circles for promotional purposes, when dark circles do not improve. Only shadowing caused by under-eye fat, like mine, improves. I think anyone who has looked into it even a little probably already knows this... She also said the under-eye area has very thin, delicate, and fragile skin, so I really needed to find a place that is good at this surgery. Especially because revision surgery for under-eye fat repositioning is difficult, she told me to make sure to get it done well the first time.

So I got around four clinic recommendations from that acquaintance and went for consultations. Maybe because they were places known to be good, all of the consultations except one were fine. At one clinic, they said my case was not that severe, so I didn’t have to do it; they could do it, but I might feel personally dissatisfied. Still, once I started going to consultations, maybe it was a case of wanting something after seeing it? I really wanted the surgery and had already made up my mind, and I felt like if I didn’t do it, I would keep getting stressed while looking in the mirror, so I just went to the other consultations I had booked... Other than that clinic, everyone said it would turn out well if I did it, and the surgical methods all seemed pretty similar. The price ranges differed a little, but not by much.

I decided to have surgery at the last clinic I visited. They said a lot of people come there through word of mouth for under-eye fat repositioning. They also said other clinics often refer people there... Somehow, when I was looking for reviews or materials, there wasn’t much information, but when I went for the consultation, the place was packed. It may have been because it was before Chuseok, but... There were many people, so I did have to wait a bit, but they said a lot of people also come there for revision under-eye fat repositioning, so I thought they must be good at surgery. After my surgery, I later looked it up and apparently a celebrity also had under-eye fat repositioning done there. The clinic didn’t tell me that, so I don’t know if it’s accurate information...

One week after surgery, I had the tape removed. Honestly, at that point, I was still very swollen and my face looked messy, so my satisfaction after surgery wasn’t very high. Because the under-eye area was swollen, my already upturned outer eye corners looked even more lifted, so my impression looked fierceㅠㅠ Since I had the surgery before Chuseok, I had a relatively long recovery period. I don’t know how it would be for other people, but for me, I think it’s better to have about a week for recovery. Daily life is possible from the day of surgery, and your face becomes presentable enough to meet people after one week! Since the tape is removed after a week... Oh, I think it was either the first or second day after surgery, but I was shocked because bloody tears came out. The manager in charge kindly explained that blood pooled around the conjunctiva was coming out as it healed, and that it was a natural phenomenon, so I didn’t need to worry. I was so startled because I thought the surgery had gone wrong. Since it was during Chuseok, I rested for about ten days, so going back to work and things like that were no problem at all! Meeting people wasn’t embarrassing either, and since it’s not a surgery that changes the facial features, no one noticed I had surgery. But just subtly, one or two people asked if I was going to a dermatologist because I looked younger, so I felt a little? good haha. Was that around 2 weeks after? The swelling had gone down a bit by then haha.

Now it is a little under one month, and as you can see in the photos, the protruding under-eye fat is gone, so I really like that I look my actual age. Before, I looked olderㅠ Especially in photos more than in real life!! Since it wasn’t a surgery that cuts the skin, there was almost no discomfort after surgery. Still, surgery is surgery, so my under-eye area felt stiff and my eyes were dry for a while, but after that period passed, there hasn’t been anything particular. Sometimes I forget I had surgery and rub my eyes, then get startled and become careful. I don’t drink or smoke, and I already tend to take lots of walks, so there wasn’t much I had to pay special attention to for post-op care.

It feels like I only wrote positive things because I’m so happy with the surgery, but absolutely, absolutely! This is not a post encouraging plastic surgery! It’s just that when I was going around for under-eye fat repositioning consultations and looking for clinic reviews, it was hard to get informationㅠㅠ So for the public good + because I had some time today + while slacking off at work haha, I’m writing this... I thought about whether to do it or not for 4 years before finally doing it, and now I feel like I worried for nothing during those 4 years. If I had done it earlier, I would have taken lots of pretty photos while traveling, but I had so many photos I didn’t like because I looked too oldㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Of course, it has still only been about a month for me... so I do need to keep watching the progress, but for now I’m very satisfied haha. For those who don’t really need to do it, it’s a surgery you don’t have to get. For those who are stressed because their under-eye area protrudes, I hope you go for consultations and meet a good clinic and a good director, and improve your complex!
