Before <silicone removal> Day 1 after nose surgery
I finally had the removal surgery! I think the surgery took a little over 3 hours. I had silicone removal (capsule scar tissue), alar work, and rotation grafting (using ear cartilage), and they decided to supplement the height with donated dermis.
I woke up in the middle of surgery and could feel them stitching, but it didn’t hurt. I was in the recovery room for about 30 minutes, then the director came, showed me what was removed, and told me about any unusual findings during the surgery before leaving.
I was still a bit groggy from the anesthesia, so I don’t remember well, but they said my nasal septum was damaged and I had become saddle-nosed(?). Maybe something went wrong during my first surgery or revision surgery (sigh..). This was something I hadn’t expected at all.. Anyway, they said they placed cartilage on the saddle-nose area(?) and overlaid donated dermis on top of it.
And lastly, I was concerned that my nostrils looked triangular, so I mentioned it before surgery. They said I would need a composite graft? mixed graft, but the cost would increase quite a lot, so I said I would pass on that for now. They said if it was really necessary, they would tell me during surgery, and during surgery they told me they wouldn’t do it. In the recovery room, they told me that if it had absolutely, definitely been necessary, they would have done it, but since it was a slightly borderline situation, they didn’t do it..
Honestly, I’m worried about this part. If I had had the budget, I definitely would have done it and moved on. But I really couldn’t spend any more, so I just left it to the director’s judgment.. For now, they said it wasn’t absolutely necessary.. so I’m hoping nothing happens
As for pain, I don’t know if it’s because there’s no packing, or because the silicone, capsule, and scar tissue inside were removed, but I’m so much more fine than I expected that it feels strange.. (There’s almost no pain.. Being able to breathe right after nose surgery feels so good.)
Today is day 1, so because of the splint I can’t see anything anyway. After the splint comes off, when I have time, I’ll leave photo reviews from time to time! Before getting a second revision, I really got a lot of help from everyone here, so I also really wanted to be of even a little help!
