I had double-jaw surgery because I had a protruding lower jaw and slight asymmetry. It was not very noticeable from the front, but once my side profile started showing, it was very obvious, so I was sad... ㅠㅠ
I think the cost was about 13 million KRW. Square jaw reduction + double-jaw surgery + contouring included
The doctor in charge told me not to do contouring separately while doing double-jaw surgery and square jaw reduction, but to do it together, and included the contouring in the price of the square jaw reduction and double-jaw surgery.
The swelling has not all gone down yet, so I do not know if it turned out well.. Still, since I have concerns, I am leaving this as a review...
[Day 1] On the first day of double-jaw surgery, I thought that once I entered the operating room, closed my eyes, and opened them again, it would be over. When I woke up, I was so cold that my whole body was trembling, and because of the anesthetic gas? I was in so much pain, so sleepy, and I could not breathe... It was so hard that I vowed I would absolutely never have surgery again....
Phlegm came out, and my saliva became sticky like glue, so it was hard to spit out and hard to swallow.... I could not breathe well, but because of the anesthetic gas, I kept getting sleepy, so I kept repeating spitting and dozing off. When I was discharged, I saw that I had used up an entire new box of tissues...
Because I could not breathe, I could not sleep, so from 3 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next day I could not sleep and just kept moving around... It felt more bearable when I was walking than when I was in bed...
[Day 2] After being discharged from the hospital, I bought food, went home, ate lunch, stacked up pillows and barely slept, and since I heard walking is important for swelling recovery, I went for a walk of nearly 3 km in the evening... That was a big mistake... ㅠㅠ
From fasting, including water, starting the evening before day 1, to getting nutrition only through IV fluids on day 1, then being discharged on day 2, eating only about half a bowl of porridge for lunch at home, sleeping, and eating only another half bowl of porridge, I walked 3 km when I was completely lacking nutrition and stamina, then came home and took a hot shower, and I got dizzy..
Then I got more and more dizzy... even when I stayed still, objects seemed to be spinning.. Because I had not eaten anything, there was nothing to vomit up... but I retched nearly 10 times... I called to go to the ER to get IV fluids, but because phlegm (anesthetic gas...) was coming out, they said I could only go after taking a COVID test... They also said that while waiting for the test result, I would have to wait in the same ward as symptomatic patients... So in the end I could not go, and I calmed down a little at home and fell asleep...
[Day 3] When I woke up, I felt much better... Since I had nearly had a serious problem, I went to the hospital, and they said there was nothing particularly wrong. I realized I needed to eat properly.
For every meal, I blended porridge and ate all of it. I ate it together with dongchimi broth, egg soup broth, and spinach soup broth. My stomach filled up with liquid so much.. Still, maybe because I ate well, my body did not feel weak.
I was still scared I might get dizzy and retch again.
It was not because of the double-jaw surgery or because of the medication. It seemed like it was because I overexerted myself.
Whenever I had time, I also went out for walks. I think I walked 1-2 km, 3 times a day.
After spending days 4-6 like that...
[Day 7] After one week like that, I visited the clinic and checked the postoperative X-ray.
The square jaw area had been cut strangely??? I thought the basic approach was to smooth it and connect the line, but apparently that is not the case...? At the hospital, I just thought maybe that was how it was, but after coming home and thinking about it, I felt like there was pain too...
I hurriedly looked it up, and it seems to be a secondary angle after square jaw reduction...
I thought the pain was from swelling or wounds healing,
but it was pain from a sharp(?) part that had not been trimmed because of the secondary angle.................................
This has made things quite serious... ㅠㅠ I am so shocked because I feel like I may need to undergo a painful revision surgery under general anesthesia because of this......................
I am supposed to start orthodontic treatment one month after double-jaw surgery, so it feels like something very serious has happened.... I am leaving this review partly to get it off my chest...
Sighㅠㅠ
Ever since seeing the X-ray, I keep thinking about it...
