First, I’ll start with how I decided on the hospital.
When choosing a hospital, I spent two months looking only into hospitals specializing in facelifts before deciding. As I visited places in person, I developed my own criteria, and after each consultation I wrote everything down in my notes right away and compared them.
1. Whether it is a hospital specializing in facelifts Because I preferred a place with extensive facelift surgery experience, I checked whether they mainly perform facelifts, whether it is a one-doctor clinic, and whether the director personally handles everything from surgery to aftercare.
2. A hospital with many review photos
I thought one-month review photos should be a given, and I checked whether they had reviews from 6 months later, 1 year later, or longer. In particular, my trust rose sharply at places that had 1-year review photos. It was tiring going around asking each place one by one, but even looking only up to this point narrowed down the hospitals a lot. (If you go for a consultation and they still won’t show you review photos, filter them out immediately.)
3. A doctor who explains incision lines, scars, and so on in detail This is in the same context as the first point, but at factory-style clinics or general plastic surgery clinics, they didn’t explain as thoroughly as hospitals specializing in facelifts. Of course, they would explain if I asked, but I got the feeling that if I didn’t request things first, they wouldn’t pay close attention to details. If I kept asking for everything, I could come off as difficult, right?
4. A doctor who recommends an image that suits me This last criterion made deciding on a hospital the hardest. What I originally thought was that I wanted to do a facelift and fat grafting together. But each hospital recommended things that seemed similar yet were all slightly different, so after hearing so much, I couldn’t tell what image suited me best. So I asked acquaintances too and chose slowly and carefully. In the end, I chose the doctor whose direction matched the image I wanted from the beginning. Since you know your own face best, I think it’s right to decide based on the image you personally want.
Because it was a surgery I had thought about a lot, researched hospitals for extensively, and then decided on, I thought I would feel relieved once it was done. But even after surgery, the hardship remained The hardest part was that I couldn’t make facial expressions. It didn’t interfere with daily life, but it was most uncomfortable when talking, and especially when smiling. Since everything was pulled tight, I felt all the muscles when smiling, and because I felt awkward myself, I ended up smiling less Also, opening my mouth while eating was uncomfortable, so I mostly ate porridge-type foods and even lost weight. Maybe that was a good thing, because the swelling seems to have gone down quickly. It also became mentally stressful, so I searched through lots of other reviews and consulted the doctor again. He said it was because the tissue had been properly pulled tight. I thought this was better than having the side effect of sagging again soon, and I relied on the doctor mentally while waiting for things to get better.
After surgery, I kept taking care of myself diligently and waited and waited, and now it has already been half a year. I can’t forget how hard it was, but whenever I look in the mirror, I feel so good. If you asked whether I would do it again if I could turn back time, I think I would. I’m increasingly feeling that a facelift is a surgery with that big of a before-and-after difference. Quite a few acquaintances around me had already had facelifts, and they say mine turned out the best! Maybe that’s why it feels even more worthwhile. Personal satisfaction is important, but satisfaction that comes from others’ reactions seems to make me the proudest. I’m going to keep managing it so it doesn’t go back. I hope my surgery journey helps others.. For those considering surgery, I hope you make a decision you won’t regret.
