I’ve gone to consultations at two places so far, but the contents were complete opposites, so I’m confused.
ㅂㅌㅇ Since I have a deviated septum, they said they would correct the septum while taking septal cartilage and leave 1.3 mm of septum. They would use that septal cartilage for the columellar strut method, put ear cartilage in the nasal tip, and for the nasal bridge, put in customized silicone 3 mm~3.5 mm. When I asked about septal extension, they said my nose doesn’t need septal extension; both are possible, but they recommend the method that suits the patient.
ㄷㄷㅇㅣㅔㅣ They said deviated septum correction isn’t particularly necessary. They would open the nose, and if there is enough septal cartilage, use septal cartilage + ear cartilage. On CT, there’s a high possibility there won’t be enough septal cartilage. If septal cartilage can’t be used, they said to use donated costal cartilage. When I said I don’t want to use donated costal cartilage, they said then if I want to use autologous costal cartilage, we should exclude using septal cartilage and decide on autologous costal cartilage from the beginning before entering the operating room. When I said another place recommended a columellar strut, they said if it were them, they wouldn’t do it with a columellar strut. They said a columellar strut probably wouldn’t be able to lift the nasal tip enough, so let’s do septal extension. They said customized silicone is unnecessary because they have to carve it themselves anyway. They would shave a little of the hump and just use regular silicone. Since silicone can make the nose look longer, put in less than 3 mm. They said even if using autologous costal cartilage, they would still take septal cartilage and put it in the nasal tip.
That’s what I heard, but the two consultations were complete opposites, so I’m really confused...
This is a personal question, but can nasolabial angle correction still be done with a columellar strut? Nasolabial angle correction is about 30~40% of my goal for rhinoplasty.
