20 days ago, I had revision rhinoplasty in the Sinsa area with silicone for the nasal bridge and autologous costal cartilage for the nasal tip. I had my first surgery 4 years ago, and the starting point of my nose was too high and the nasal tip had drooped a lot, so after putting it off and putting it off, I finally got revision surgery.
From the day of surgery until day 4, everything was fine, but suddenly on day 5 my glabella and nose swelled slightly, and blood flowed only from the right nostril. At week 1, when they removed the splint and checked my progress, they said it seemed like blood had pooled, so they squeezed the blood out with a syringe (draining the blood was seriously painful) and blocked it again with cotton.. From then on, I went to the clinic almost every day, got two antibiotic injections each time, and had my progress checked daily. Three days after draining the blood (day 10), I went to have the cotton removed, but they said the bleeding wasn't stopping, so they drained blood again, blocked it with cotton again, and said that if there was still continued bleeding at the follow-up two days later, they would have to do open irrigation.
Thankfully, the bleeding in my nose stopped, and although something like yellow nasal discharge kept coming out, they said we should watch the progress while I got antibiotics and took medication, so I said okay. As each day passed, the condition of my nose got better, and although a little yellow nasal discharge still came out, I could see that the amount had decreased.
But yesterday (day 19), during the follow-up, the director said that since discharge was still continuing even after all these antibiotic injections, open irrigation had to be done. They said this wasn't a choice and had to be done no matter what. If the director was saying that much, what could I do,,, So the next day (day 20), I went in for open irrigation. During the open irrigation, they said that because of all the blood squeezing and such until now, there had been a slight deformity of the nasal tip, and they would rearrange and fix that too, so I went into the operating room praying, please, let this be the last time... and when I opened my eyes, I was in the recovery room.
Maybe because they opened it again, it wasn't as bad as the day of the original surgery, but it still hurt. Seriously,,, my nose stung so badly, like Buldak sauce plus every spicy sauce had been poured all over my entire nose;;;
After resting a bit with my boyfriend, the director came in and said that when they opened up the inside of my nose, the inflammation was so severe that they had removed everything........... They said that if they didn't remove it now, bigger complications could come later, and that later it could become really serious, so they had taken action as quickly as possible...... Hearing that, I couldn't even cry and was kind of out of it, staring blankly, and I only kept saying things like, you really removed it..? All of it...? Complete removal...? Thankfully, my boyfriend next to me asked all the questions, so the director did explain everything one by one in detail....
They said even they almost never see cases like this, and that I was almost the first case like this. They said it could be because I smoked too much, or because my immunity had weakened..... Until now, after my first surgery, I had never had an inflammatory reaction, and even when my immunity dropped, I lived fine without my nose reacting at all, so can this suddenly happen...? Honestly, I don't even remember everything the director told me... All I could think was that I spent a lot of money trying to get prettier, suffered through every possible hardship for two full weeks, even having pooled blood drained, and in the end this is the result.... I thought it was ruined and I was seriously out of my mind... On the way home and even after arriving home, I was so shocked that I just kept staring blankly.
My boyfriend next to me tried to comfort me, saying once the inflammation and pain all get better, I can have revision surgery again in about half a year, so don't worry, but none of it went in one ear. When I got home, I just kept staring in the mirror, and you know the gauze placed under the nose in case nasal discharge or blood flows out? I peeled it back slightly and looked, and my nose was so extremely upturned.... Because it's taped, I can't see properly, but anyone can tell it's an upturned nose, and the columella area also seems slightly sunken.... I really don't have the confidence to remove the splint in a week and look at my nose... Right now I'm in such a busy period with so much to do, and next month I even have a profile photoshoot.... For nasal complications and even complete removal to happen at this time of all times... this is so hard.. Seriously, I think with rhinoplasty you need to take your time, go to a lot of consultations, and if possible stop smoking from one month before surgery and get it done when your physical condition is really good.
At the clinic, they keep saying, while showing photos, that they performed the surgery perfectly and beautifully with no bleeding, and that there was no bleeding and almost no swelling immediately after surgery, wasn't that true? Since bleeding suddenly started from day 4 after being fine, it seems to be an issue with my nasal mucous membrane, so it feels like they're saying, we did nothing wrong, it's all your fault,,,, Can anyone guarantee there is a 100% zero chance of bacterial infection during surgery...? I do usually smoke a bit, but from the day before surgery until now, I haven't smoked at all. If I pass someone smoking on the street, I hold my breath as I walk by,,,;;; I'm so stressed.....
I think I saw a few posts saying that after complete removal from the nose, during the contraction phase the nose can look upturned, but after complete removal, does it normally look like an upturned nose?? Right now my nose is extremely lifted, as if contracture has occurred. From the front, it looks like my nose has been pressed up on purpose to make a pig nose. They said it could be because of swelling, but this is contracture, right?? Will it not return to a normal nose like my old nose...? What if it keeps looking upturned..? Is there anyone here who had complete nasal removal and then had revision surgery again...? I really feel like I can't live like this. I think I'll definitely get a third revision in 6 months, but if I touch my nose again then, could things become irreversible...? This is so hard.....
