This is NOT saying that if you’re looking into double eyelid surgery, you must get a semi-out line. These days, it seems like a lot of people here, including me, are looking into semi-out lines, so even though I’ve already set a surgery date, I’m just sharing my consultation-shopping review.
I went to four places in total: ㄸㅋ, ㅇㅁㄹ, ㄹㅂㄹ, and ㅇㄴ. Since evaluations like whether a hospital was kind or the consultation was good can only be subjective, I hope you’ll use this just for reference. Because it’s my first surgery, I wanted incisional surgery as little as possible and preferred buried suture, and in the end I was debating between ㄸㅋ and ㄹㅂㄹ, so I’ll only write about those two.
ㄸㅋ -Near Sinnonhyeon -The wait here is brutal. There are a lot of people, so I recommend going with plenty of time. -The director is the type to be really honest and clearly say what is possible/impossible. -When I said I wanted to get greedy and do this and that kind of canthoplasty, they said with any plastic surgery, you shouldn’t overdo it, and the best approach is to operate according to each person’s eye shape. -Since it’s a first surgery, they suggested non-incisional. -They said my eyes would suit both semi-out and in-out lines. -But if I wanted semi-out, they said medial epicanthoplasty + upper epicanthoplasty would need to be done together, and if I wanted in-out, it would be enough even without canthoplasty. (No room for lateral canthoplasty) -I felt the director’s consultation was neat and the consultant was kind. The quoted price was higher than expected, but once the review discount was applied, it suddenly dropped a lot, so that was a little puzzling. -They said they provide swelling laser as aftercare.
ㄹㅂㄹ -Near Sinnonhyeon -Similarly, there were a lot of people, and I went in after waiting a bit less than at the previous clinic. -The director spent quite a long time first looking at the condition of my eyes. -It wasn’t just simply setting the double eyelid line a few times and ending it; they examined the eye structure and what force I use to open my eyes when closing and opening them. -They also recommended non-incisional surgery. They said incision is the method used last, and clearly said they had no intention of recommending an excessive surgery from the beginning. -They said my eyes suit an in-out to semi-out line much better than a very low line. -From the director’s view, upper epicanthoplasty wasn’t necessary, but to create a semi-out feel, there was a need to open the inner eye corners with medial epicanthoplasty. (Did not recommend lateral canthoplasty) -They said they provide swelling laser as aftercare. -The director was very meticulous and explained in detail. The consultant was also kind, and after giving the cost information, the consultation ended cleanly without pressure.
What I felt after going to consultations at four places -When I tried shaping a semi-out line by myself at home versus when the director shaped it at the clinic, it was so different;; -Just because I want canthoplasty doesn’t mean everything is possible.. Both ㄸㅋ and ㄹㅂㄹ advised against lateral canthoplasty. -Everyone says about a 1-hour gap between consultations is enough, but I think this differs by clinic. Before scheduling consultations, I recommend looking at consultation-shopping reviews to see whether the wait is long or short, then booking. For ambiguous clinics, just put them last ㄱㄱ -There’s no need to decide on the same day. I think the best way is to visit all the consultations, think it over, and decide.
