After much thought, I had functional rhinoplasty and cosmetic rhinoplasty with Director Lee Sung-hoon at GNG. I was someone concerned about a thick nasal bridge and a blunt nasal tip, but I don’t prefer an overly flashy line. After researching a lot and thinking it over, I had cosmetic rhinoplasty using a custom implant for the nasal bridge, and septal cartilage + donated costal cartilage for the nasal tip. For the functional rhinoplasty, only type 1 deviated septum! I told the director I wanted the surgery to look natural. That’s why we used a custom implant as the nasal bridge material, and I honestly think it was a brilliant choice. With silicone, if it goes even slightly wrong, it can look like an obviously operated nose to anyone, but with the custom implant, it somehow feels like it was my nose from the beginning. The line came out smooth without an artificial feeling, so I’m x10000000 satisfied.
Before the consultation, I vaguely thought, ‘If I do a custom implant, costal cartilage... and functional nose surgery too, the cost must be no joke, right?’ But when I actually went for the consultation and got the estimate, it wasn’t as burdensome as I had thought. On top of that, when applying the private indemnity insurance I have, my out-of-pocket cost dropped sharply, so I gathered the courage to have surgery. For autologous costal cartilage, they said you stay hospitalized for 2 nights and 3 days, but since I used donated costal cartilage, I was hospitalized for only 1 night. During the hospitalization, they provided hyperbaric oxygen therapy and infrared light therapy, which I was touched by.
The rhinitis surgery also went well, but the line is seriously amazing, so I don’t know how many times I looked in the mirror today.
